Finally, we have another brotherly NFL rivalry to look forward to. The Washington Commanders drafted Luke McCaffrey, Christian McCaffrey’s brother as the 100 pick in round three. Now the Rice Owls WR will be playing alongside Jayden Daniels for a reformed Washington Commanders.
The feat has impressed Christian McCaffrey and made him emotional as well. The San Francisco 49ers RB shared a heartfelt message to his brother, welcoming him to the NFL. More so, the elder brother’s post instills confidence in Luke to believe in himself.
The 49ers RB took to X and wrote, “Couldn’t be more proud of my brother @mccaffrey_luke. What a story. Bet on yourself every step of the way. What a story🥹🤝🏻 #NFLdraft.” However, that’s not all. The elder McCaffrey brother shared the post on his Instagram Stories as well, tagging the younger brother in it. He also shared NFL and Rice Football’s story on his IG as well.

The younger McCaffrey started playing with Rice in 2022 and played two seasons with them. In his first season, the WR had 58 receptions over 723 yards and 6 touchdowns. He increased his production in the next year when he had 71 receptions over 992 yards and 13 touchdowns. The internet is flooding with McCaffrey’s highlights, showing just how good he really is.
One of his major highlights broke the internet in September last year, when Rice played against Houston and led 21-0 in the first quarter, all thanks to McCaffrey. The video shows the Rice QB throwing a deep ball and McCaffrey reels it in single-handed, showing off his WR prowess.
Another highlight came from the match between Rice and Texas Southern last year. The same thing happened again. He got a deep ball from his QB and made the catch despite 2 defensive players on him. His athletic prowess also creates a path for an exciting rivalry between the two brothers going forward.

Bringing Christian McCaffrey into the picture, the 49ers RB had a 4.48 second 40-yard dash time, 37.5 inches vertical, 10 feet, 1-inch broad jump (same as Luke). He did the 3-cone drill in 6.57 seconds and had a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.22 seconds.
These stats don’t deviate as much. Given the McCaffrey family’s NFL background, it might not be to wrong for NFL fans and the Commanders to hope for Luke McCaffrey to make a huge dent in the league.
