The four-day NFL Scouting Combine is one extensive interview and opportunity that allows “NFL scouts to evaluate that year’s top draft-eligible college players on a variety of medical, mental and physical criteria.” However, out of 321, some prospects are skipping this year’s workouts. There is quite a buzz about quarterbacks in this class. But, as of now, the top two prospects — Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels — have decided not to participate in the throwing drills.
Although these two players, USC QB Williams and LSU QB Daniels, will be present at the event, they have decided to showcase their skills by throwing drills at their respective universities’ Pro Days. USC and LSU’s Pro Days are scheduled for March 20 and 27, respectively. Many analysts believe that’s the correct decision these players took, as they won’t gain much from throwing at the Combine, and putting the same workout energy on Pro Days will give them a plus in their stats. After all, these two players are among the top draft prospects this year.
However, apart from them, the other star prospects, Michigan QB JJ McCarthy, Oregon QB Bo Nix, California QB Spencer Rattler, and Washington QB Michael Penix Jr, will all be throwing for scouts.
Meanwhile, QB participants and some head coaches think the NFL Combine is “a waste of time.”

According to a recent update, many head coaches have decided to skip the Combine, considering it “a waste of time.” Till now, head coaches like Mike McCarthy, Sean McVay, Matt LaFleur, Kyle Shanahan, and Robert Saleh have opted not to attend the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
Since the workouts are being recorded and virtual interviews can be conducted, attending the event in person is unnecessary. Many football fans also landed with the same thought.
