Did the Dolphins make the right call prioritizing Tyreek Hill over Jaylen Waddle? What's your take?

Tua Tagovailoa is already making headlines both on and off the gridiron this year. And what’s the latest buzz? Well, the rookie QB just revealed their 2023 plans for Tyreek Hill. So, what did Tagovailoa exactly say?

On 20th August’s episode of The Dan Le Batard Show, Tua came up with his thoughts on the Dolphins‘ priority in the last season, “Last year, we were, in a way, really trying to help Tyreek get to that 2,000-yard mark. It wasn’t like we were trying to hide that. It was pretty obvious. Trying to feed him the ball and whatnot.” And that’s evident from last year’s performance of the QB/WR duo.

Well, in 2023, Hill showcased his explosive playmaking abilities. In their game against the Broncos, Cheetah scored a 54-yard TD after receiving a stunning throw from Tua Tagovailoa. And that’s not all. Later that year, Tyreek also made his ‘10th receiving TD of the year‘ from an exhilarating throw from Tua which aided the Dolphins to crush the Jets by 34-13. It feels like everything was at stake for Hill to reach his 2000-yard mark. But Hill isn’t the only Fins’ WR, right? What about Jaylen Waddle and his targets?

Well, in 2023, Jaylen covered 1,014 yards for the Fins. On the other hand, Hill recorded for 1,799 yards in the 2023 season. And it looks like Waddle didn’t have any problem with that, per Tagovailoa, “Well, the cool thing about it was like Jaylen knew like we were trying to do that for Reek, and he wasn’t really like he’s like, ‘Dude, I’m here to support like that”s awesome whatever I can do.” And that’s not the first time when Tua commented on Waddle’s role in Tyreek’s explosive gameplay, “What helps [Hill] is the other guy, the guy we have on the other side, Jaylen Waddle,” per Tua in a 2023 interview.

It looks like Tyreek Hill has already been receiving much support from his team. And, with that, Hill turned up with a promise, full of hopes.

Tyrek Hill’s promise and expectations for the 2024 season

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Dolphins make the right call prioritizing Tyreek Hill over Jaylen Waddle? What's your take?

Have an interesting take?

I will break 2,000 yards next year, bro,” said Hill in 2023. But what else did he add to his promise? Although the 2000 yards quest seemed to be on his radar, Hill’s focus seemed to have shifted to team play, “I feel being a leader, if I just single out a personal goal like that; that is very selfish of me,” said Hill. He further expects to play in the playoffs too, “I would want us to win a playoff game.” And it looks like he is doing his best to keep his word. The Cheetah has undergone stem cell therapy to maintain his elite form throughout the 2024 season. But that’s not all, as he has been blazing at the training camps, too.

In a clip from Miami’s training camp this year, Tyreek was seen to catch a perfect deep ball from Tagovailoa, sending the fans into a roar for Cheetah. But it looks like we still have to wait a bit to see him in the pre-season. Why? Well, Hill has faced a setback with a ‘minor‘ hand injury, as he was spotted wearing a brace on his right hand during Miami’s practice session on Tuesday.
