Did Tony Hinchcliffe cross the line comparing Travis Kelce to OJ Simpson at a Trump rally?

Donald Trump may have taken center stage in his rally in New York City, but comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who joined him there, has taken the major spotlight after some of his questionable jokes. As he took multiple jibes towards Trump’s presidential opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, some of it has offended a lot of people; Especially when Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s names were used.

Here’s the thing. Last month, the singer endorsed Harris on Instagram and wrote, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.” She also signed as ‘Childless Cat Lady’—a reference to previous comments made by Trump’s running mate JD Vance.

With the 2024 US elections right around the corner, there is a lot going on. Trump’s rally in New York City is a part of everything that is going on, but did Hinchcliffe’s jokes go too far?

“I don’t know about you guys, but that Travis Kelce might be the next OJ Simpson. Feels good in here. The other side’s got a lot of crazy endorsements. Swift, Eminem, Leo DiCaprio, Beyonce. Every day, the Democratic party looks more and more like a P. Diddy party,” the comedian with a net worth of $6 million joked.

Hinchcliffe comparing the Chiefs TE with former NFL player OJ Simpson didn’t sit well with many. After all, people are aware that Simpson was arrested for the alleged m—– of Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1994. Although he was eventually released after spending 474 days in custody, that case still haunts many in the NFL.

His comments on P. Diddy’s controversy were also not liked by many, considering it is a serious issue involving claims of sexual assault and abuse.

But coming back to the jibe he took at Travis Kelce, it seems to have stemmed from his girlfriend’s recent endorsement of Kamala Harris. As Swift announced her side, what exactly did she mention?

Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the wake of misinformation…

On September 11, the musician took to Instagram and wrote, “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.”

“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. … I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades,” she wrote in her lengthy post.

Of course, Harris was happy with this. But did you know that Taylor Swift wasn’t always so open about her political views? As per ‘Billboard’, with regard to the midterm elections on Nov. 6, 2018, the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer endorsed who she would be voting for. This was her first official endorsement and she decided to not support Marsha Blackburn, who was running for Senate in the state of Tennessee.

Trump wasn’t too happy with this and even stated that he liked her music 25% less. Since then, Swift has become more open about her political opinions. For instance, when the House passed the Equality Act, she started a petition in June 2019. Swift wrote a letter to her senator to kick off Pride Month and urged everyone to support the Act.

The same month, she also released ‘You Need To Calm Down’ video, which featured several known members of the LGBTQ community like Ellen Degeneres, Hayley Kiyoko, and many more. It was a powerful statement as at the end of the video, she urged her fans to support the Equality Act.

Similarly, in the past couple of years, she has talked about being pro-choice, and on topics such as feminism, gay rights, and policies.
