As beautiful as it looks, giving birth comes with its fair share of difficulties that only mothers like Marissa Lawrence would understand. Just last month, Trevor Lawrence’s wife announced the birth of their baby girl with a heartwarming note on Instagram, “Shae Lynn Lawrence Born 1/4/25 at 4:01 am 10 pounds 2 oz 🎀🩷Mommy and daddy love you so much!!! Thank you, Jesus, for our girl!!” Well, going through that message and the adorable photos the couple shared on social media, it looked like they couldn’t be happier. But the things that happened before Marissa gave birth never came to light until she decided to share those scary moments.

On Monday afternoon, Marissa decided to come clean through an Instagram post about her struggles prior to giving natural birth. It all started with her joining a birthing class to prepare herself for her baby. Then came the hard part. Lawrence’s better half decided to go ahead with natural birth while pushing herself to the limit. She wrote, “I kinda tricked myself into attempting a natural delivery. If you know me, you know how competitive I am. So I really went into it with the mindset. “So many women do it natural why not me..?” and thus… The story of giving birth with no epidural to a ten-pound two-ounce chunky, perfect girl.” She certainly is a brave mother.

Her baby did come out healthy, but Marissa had to go through a roller coaster of emotions during her delivery. In the second part of the story, Marissa recalled the details of going into labor to 45 minutes of nonstop pushing until Baby Shae came out crying. On January 3rd, around 4 pm, Marissa’s water slowly started leaking. By the time she reached the hospital around 6 pm, the doctors had already confirmed labor.

Now, after 4 hours, around 10 pm, her pain escalated a bit too much when doctors decided to completely get rid of her water. Described in her own words, Lawrence’s wife wrote, “I was having contractions every 2-3 minutes, and they were manageable but definitely not fun lol. By midnight I was in the thick of it and labored, standing up/ leaning on the bed the whole time. The pain was way worse when sitting.” She even gave a shout-out to her athletic body, which made those pains a little tolerable, “shout out to soccer and the gym for making my legs strong enough to do this lol.”

However, those contractions kept on going till 3 a.m., when the doctors finally felt she was ready. “At 3 am, I am begging for the Dr to come. And thankfully, he checks me, and I am 10 cm!!! I immediately start pushing, which in hindsight wasn’t the wisest. But baby girl worked with me, and after 45 minutes of pushing, our perfect girl was here 🤍.” Yeah, it was an up-and-down experience for Marissa. But at least she had Lawrence as her support system throughout those critical moments. Like she said, Trevor couldn’t really help her physically because of his arm injury. However, he did offer her emotional support, which kept Marissa going until Shae arrived.

With that experience now behind the couple. Trevor has some real work to do once he returns to the gridiron next season. With Liam Coen’s arrival in Jacksonville, the pressure on Lawrence to deliver has just doubled.

Can Trevor Lawrence benefit from Liam Coen’s coaching?

Let’s start by giving you the context of some Coen magic in Tampa Bay this season. Replacing an outgoing Dave Canales, under whom Baker Mayfield posted more than 4,000 passing yards, 28 TDs, and just 10 INTs on his way to his first Pro Bowl. Liam Coen came in and buffed Mayfield even more. Under his guidance, Mayfield threw 4,500 passing yards and a career-high 41 TDs. Coen even took a Bucs rushing attack that ranked 32nd to 4th by the time his tenure in Tampa ended. So, more of the same is expected from Coen, whose new student is former No.1 overall, Trevor Lawrence.

Trevor Lawrence severely underperformed last season. He finished with the second-fewest passing yards per game, completion percentage, and net yards gained per attempt. He was also on pace to record the second-most interceptions of his career until injuries ate up his season. So, with him coming back fresh and fully recovered, the question is, can Lawrence benefit from Coen’s move to Jacksonville?

Well, Mayfield thinks he can from his personal experience, “Trevor’s going to have a guy that’s going to grow into him, lean into that and help him out. Not just on the field but off the field.”  I guess only time will tell what will happen with this pair in Duval. It could either be a bust. Or it could give us something special that probably no one has seen it coming.
