The Jacksonville Jaguars wrapped up their disappointing season with yet another loss against the Colts on Sunday. They’re probably breathing a sigh of relief now that the nightmare’s over. With only four wins, it’s the team’s seventh season without making the playoffs. The last time they made it was in 2017, under head coach Doug Marrone. But, even though it was a rough season, QB Trevor Lawrence has a reason to smile. Yes, you heard that right. Even after a tough year, he’s got reasons to celebrate.
On Monday, Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence shared a heartwarming update with his fans. In a joint post with his wife, Marissa Layne Lawrence, the QB announced the arrival of their little bundle of joy. The couple welcomed their first child together, a daughter, on January 4th. “Shae Lynn Lawrence Born 1/4/25 at 4:01 am 10 pounds 2 oz [red bow emoji] [pink heart emoji]. Mommy and daddy love you so much!!! Thank you Jesus for our girl!!,” captioned Trevor and Marissa.
Congratulations to the couple! Trevor and Marissa’s love story goes way back to their high school days. The couple met while they were at Cartersville High School, and they’ve stuck together for so long. Doesn’t it feel like some kind of achievement when you see two people who’ve been with each other for that long?

Married for three years, the couple announced back in June that they were expecting their first child. For Trevor’s sweetheart, it hasn’t been an easy journey. Marissa shared her fair share of the pregnancy experience on her Instagram. “Trevor and I found out pretty early about baby girl. I recently got off birth control because we wanted to start trying in a year and I’ve known people personally that have taken a year for their bodies to adjust. Anyways fast forward I clearly track wrong and get pregnant.. completely shocked turned to completely excited very quickly,” says a part of the Instagram post, Marissa wrote, sharing their story.
As the Jaguars’ quarterback celebrates the birth of his daughter, the team faces the challenge of finding a new head coach.
Trevor Lawrence-led Jaguars part ways with their head coach
Firing coaches has been a top trend this year. The latest to join the club is Jaguars HC Doug Pederson, the former Eagles HC, who teamed up with the Jaguars back in 2022. The Jaguars thought bringing him on board would end their long drought of not making it to the postseason. Surprisingly, the team showed improvement during his first two years. In his first year, the Jaguars finished at the top of the AFC South, and the following year, they were second. But this year, they slipped another spot, barely managing four wins. Eventually, owner Shahid Khan decided to part ways with their three-year-long coach.
After the last loss against the Colts on Sunday, the Jaguars released a statement announcing Doug Pederson’s departure. “As much as Doug and I both wish his experience here in Jacksonville would have ended better, I have an obligation first and foremost to serve the best interests of our team and especially our fans, who faithfully support our team and are overdue to be rewarded. In that spirit, the time to summon new leadership is now,” said the team’s owner, Shahid Khan.

The Jaguars had high hopes for Pederson, a Super Bowl-winning coach. He led the Eagles to victory in Super Bowl LII, beating Bill Belichick’s Patriots 41-33. Sadly, even a Super Bowl-winning coach couldn’t end the Jaguars’ misery. Now, as they’ve parted ways with Pederson, they’ll be in the market, alongside other teams, in search of a new head coach.
