Sometimes, in the NFL, players could end up on the wrong side of a tackle. And something similar happened with Jags QB Trevor Lawrence on Sunday. While he tried to pick up some rushing yards in the second quarter by sliding to avoid contact. He couldn’t save himself from Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. His blatant hit on Lawrence left him on the gridiron while clenching both of his fists. And that was a common symptom found in players who have suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Just moments after that, Shaair was ejected from the field, citing “an illegal hit on the quarterback, unnecessary, to the neck and head area.” As for Lawrence, he couldn’t manage to return and was eventually ruled out in the second half. His day in Jacksonville ended with 4-0f-10 passes completed for only 41 yards. Instead of scoring a TD, he threw an interception before making his way to the treatment table.

But later on, the Jags QB shared an update on his condition by posting on X, “Thank you everyone who has reached out/been praying for me. I’m home and feeling better. Means a lot, thank you all.” Among all the get-well-soon comments that Lawrence got for his brutal head injury. There was also a derogatory comment that made fun of the Jaguars QB’s concussion. Although that tweet has since been deleted, Lawrence did give a fitting reply to it, “I’m sure you’re a great example for your son. God bless you, bro.”

No matter what happens, you shouldn’t ever make fun of a player trying to get back up from a brutal injury. While it’s still unknown when the Jags QB will return, his replacement on the day wasn’t that bad. Former first-round pick Mac Jones was able to help the Jaguars score two TDs for 235 yards. However, it still wasn’t enough to bring them the win, as the Jags are now 2-10 for the season. With no hopes of making the playoffs this season.

As the Jaguars try to pick themselves out, they might have to do it without Trevor Lawrence. Him being the subject of such outpouring reactions on Sunday even got the Texans LB to issue an apology on his X.

Al-Shaair didn’t just leave the field when the game officials ejected him. Instead, Jaguars rookie CB Jarrian Jones was found throwing punches when the two squared off against each other. Seeing such a brawl break out, Jones was also ejected as the game came to a lengthy halt.

To be more exact, the referees took more than 10 minutes to resume the game. Well, Al-Shaair, who was one of the culprits behind the brawl, took a moment and expressed his gratitude for the Jags, “I can understand you having his back and defending him in a situation like that.”

However, before that, he also wrote, “To Trevor, I genuinely apologize to you for what ended up happening….I would never want to see any player hurt because of a hit I put on them, especially one that was ruled late or unnecessary.” Although he could be on his way to getting fined after this incident. This isn’t the first time he has been flagged for brutal hits. Titans running back Tony Pollard had to go through the same experience when he was pushed out of bounds.

This landed Al-Shaair $11,255 and a warning for the next week. As the Jags prepare to travel to Music City for their clash against the Titans. It remains to be seen whether Trevor Lawrence will be a part of their game plan.
