Hiring a Super Bowl-winning head coach was supposed to be the spark the Jaguars needed to finally reach the top. Doug Pederson was seen as the guy who could bring the team back to relevance—and maybe even guide them to their first-ever Super Bowl. But, well, things didn’t exactly go as planned. Pederson took over after the Jaguars finished a dismal 3-14 in 2021, and by the time the 2024 season wrapped up, they were sitting at 4-13.

Safe to say, it isn’t just another bad season for Trevor Lawrence, but a huge red flag. Fast forward to now and the Jags are giving true succession vibes. First, they hired the offensive coordinator, Liam Coen, as their next head coach. Later, Coen hired Grant Udinski as their next OC in 2025—probably to get rid of their struggling run game. Speaking of which, the QB believes that the biggest difference between Coen and Pederson is definitely the run game.

Yeah, you read that right. On Monday, Lawrence appeared on Kay Adams’ Up & Adams Show. When Adams asked him, “What’s the biggest difference in the scheme you’ve noticed so far,” Lawrence didn’t hold back and straight-up exposed the major difference. “Just the run game. It’s just different. Obviously, there’s going to be a lot of changes in, you know, verbally and terminology and all those things and the system is different,” Lawrence said. “But I think the run game and how it’s built off that. And I think just his (Liam Coen) knowledge of how to set up the run game with the play-action screens. And then obviously you mixing your dropbacks and your shots downfield.”

Hmm, let’s break that down. Before joining the Jaguars, Coen transformed the Bucs‘ offense into a juggernaut. Under his leadership as the OC, the Bucs rushing offense ranked 9th in the NFL, averaging 130.4 rushing yards per game. The kicker? It was 23rd in the previous season. On top of that, after finishing 23rd in yards per game and 20th in points per game in 2023, Coen led the Bucs to third in yards (399.6) and fourth in points (29.5) in 2024.

And the Jaguars? They’re totally clueless ranking 23rd in the rushing offense with just 4.3 yards per carry. On top of that, they ranked 25th in the overall offense. Hmm, looks like Lawrence’s statement isn’t without merit. After all, the OC led his previous team to a remarkable transformation. And that’s what Lawrence and the team are looking for in 2025.

On top of that, the Jaguars have already hired Udinski as their next HC who coached the Vikings’ QB, Sam Darnold, in the past season. That being said, the Jags’ fans can take a sigh of relief—at least for the team’s offense.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Trevor Lawrence turn the Jaguars around, or is it time for a complete team overhaul?

Trevor Lawrence is a true Jaguar

Too many quarterbacks on the roster? It’s like trying to pick the perfect pass—at some point, you’ve gotta make a throw, not just a decision. But looks like the Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t in the mood to make a decision right about now. They’ve got options like Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, and whom are they choosing? No one. In fact, they’re eyeing the other QB and at this point, you can just say that the Steelers are probably contacting every other team.

And the Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence are one of them. BUT! According to the sources of both teams, the Steelers never called the Jaguars for their QB and of course, the Jags are not gonna let go of Lawrence, especially after offering him a massive contract. However, the QB broke the silence on the trade rumors. Spoiler alert: he doesn’t want to leave Jacksonville.

“I have a no-trade clause in my contract, I would know about it if I was getting traded or if that was something that was going to happen,” he said on Up & Adams Show. “I would have to be on board with it, which I’m not. I’m happy here in Jacksonville. We want to win a Super Bowl here and I think we can do that, and I don’t want to leave Jacksonville. I’m happy here, obviously. Not going to Pittsburgh.”

That being said, he’s not going anywhere from Jacksonville till 2030. The Jaguars locked up their franchise QB with a massive five-year contract extension worth $275M before the 2024 season. On top of that, the QB has a no-trade clause in his extension that gives him an option to deny a trade.

All in all, the trade rumors aren’t going anywhere in this offseason and so isn’t Trevor Lawrence.
