Trevor Lawrence is pretty much the face of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and as the team tries to level up, his influence is only getting bigger. He recently sat down with Kay Adams on her Up & Adams podcast to talk. About whether he’s involved in the GM search—and spoiler alert: he’s not in charge of that.

When Kay asked if he was getting his hands dirty in picking a new GM, Trevor said. “I’m not involved in any of that.” He made it clear that players and management gotta stay in their lanes. “There has to be some separation from player and management,” he said. But he’s not completely out of the loop—he mentioned that the front office hits him up about team chemistry like who’s vibing in the locker room. So he’s got a bit of the inside scoop.

The Jags have had some drama in the front office over the years. Back in 2020, they fired GM Dave Caldwell after a pretty rough season (1-15, yikes). He had been with the team for a while, but after a string of bad drafts and decisions, the Jags were ready to hit the reset button. ESPN reported that they let him go after their 10th straight loss dropped them to 1-10 that season. Then they brought in Trent Baalke as interim GM, but that didn’t last either. In January 2025, the Jags and Baalke “respectfully separated” after facing a lot of criticism about his management and decision-making.

Right now, the Jags are still looking for the right GM to step in. Trevor Lawrence’s not involved in the interviews, but the front office is putting in the work to find someone who can keep the momentum going. With Doug Pederson as head coach and the team making strides in 2022, the focus is on getting a GM who can keep building around Trevor. As the Jacksonville Times-Union and ESPN have pointed out, getting the right person in the GM role is huge if the Jags want to keep progressing and compete in the long run.

Jaguars are adding depth with new signing

The Jacksonville Jaguars are making some solid moves, but don’t stress—there’s no QB drama going down. The team recently announced that they’ve signed QB John Wolford and WR Louis Rees-Zammit to the active roster, giving them some extra depth. This isn’t about replacing Trevor Lawrence; it’s just making sure they have a reliable backup plan. Both players are no strangers to the Jaguars, having been on the practice squad last season. Wolford, in particular, has bounced around the league with the Rams, Tampa Bay, and now Jacksonville.

Wolford’s been around the block, making appearances in seven games with four starts, stacking up 626 yards and a touchdown over three seasons with the Rams. After a quick cameo with the Buccaneers, he found a home on the Jaguars’ practice squad back in December. Now, he’s stepping up to the active roster. But let’s keep it 100this isn’t about shaking up the QB room. It’s about making sure the Jags have a veteran backup ready to roll if the unexpected happens. No doubt, Trevor Lawrence is the king of Duval, but having solid backup plans is always the move.

Wolford’s signing might not be the talk of the town, but it’s a low-key power play. The Jags are 100% backing Lawrence, but they’re also making sure they have all their bases covered. Meanwhile, new OC Liam Coen is already out here making waves, pulling in people from his Rams squad. He’s flexing his leadership and showing he’s got the vision to kick-start the Duval rebuild. The Jaguars are rising, and with Lawrence at the helm, the future is looking bright for 2025—no question about it.
