“I just want to stay healthy. What bothers me is not being out there.” Those were the words of a player who once started the first 49 regular season games of his career. At that point, Trevor Lawrence even earned the nickname ‘Ironman.’ Whether it was an ankle sprain, a shoulder sprain, or a knee injury, Lawrence never missed time on the field because of it. However, the last two seasons haven’t been great for the Jags QB. Once referred to as Ironman of the NFL—immune to injuries—has now missed 8 of his last 19 games. So, in order to get back on his feet before the 2025 season comes along. Lawrence has just dropped the latest intel from his offseason recovery.

On Friday, Lawrence took to his Instagram to share some snaps from his gym workout. While the main focus behind the post was to show off his ‘paid partnership with Bose,’ it was his caption that got our attention. “One day at a time, ” Lawrence wrote while flexing his new earbuds from Bose. However, we are not here to discuss his latest partnership or the song he was probably listening to while working out in the gym. Our main focus is his sudden troubles with injuries and the road to recovery, to stage a strong comeback next season.

See, Lawrence only missed 1 game in 2023 because of a shoulder injury. Even though he dealt with four different injuries, none of them overpowered Lawrence’s grit to show up on the gridiron next week. But last season injuries finally got the better of him. His first major setback came in week 9, when he suffered an AC joint sprain against the Eagles. This marked the first time Lawrence missed consecutive games before returning against the Texans.

Well, the whole league knows how that game turned out to be for Lawrence. A violent hit on the head from Azeez Al-Shaair concussed him. A brawl broke out—the Texans LB got suspended for 3 games—and the league’s safety concerns were put into question. But amid all the chaos that unfolded days after Lawrence’s concussion.

Him and the Jaguars decided to opt for surgery to repair his AC joint sprain in his non-throwing shoulder. This meant Lawrence’s 4th season ended playing just 10 games after starting 50 in his first three seasons. Yes, his injuries could be a concern lately for the Jags. However, they are still adamant about keeping him in the loop regarding everything that happens hereafter.

Liam Coen wants Trevor Lawrence’s advice to kickstart this rebuild

“The No.1 thing is the quarterback position. Our commitment to Trevor. I think it’s well known and we believe in him.” Jags owner Shad Khan wasn’t kidding at all when he reiterated his trust in Trevor Lawrence. See, his fifth-year veteran QB might not have lived up to his hype since getting picked No.1 overall by the Jags in 2021.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Trevor Lawrence's involvement in team decisions a smart move, or a recipe for disaster?

Have an interesting take?

However, it still isn’t enough to convince the Jags from giving up on their $275M QB. Like they are even thinking of taking his intel to shape the rebuild. Liam Coen said with a smile on his face at the Combine, “He wants to be playing at the highest level possible, and how do we include him in some of those conversations. Specifically with some of the skill players and obviously on the offensive line.”

Starting guard Brandon Scherff is set to test free agency when his contract expires before this season. And there’s also the situation with WR Christian Kirk. The Jags receiver will enter the final year of his contract with no updates on a new deal. So, what happens between the two of them remains to be seen. Considering Coen’s take on Lawrence being involved in roster decisions.

He will surely have a big say on whether those two will return to Duval or not. And this also makes one thing clear: Whatever the new regime in Jacksonville is trying to do, everything passes through Trevor Lawrence. His take could determine the future of certain players from here on. Hopefully the Jags and Trevor Lawrence pairing won’t turn out to be the Jets and Aaron Rodgers 2.0. Because you know the last time a franchise allowed their QB to call shots on roster moves—how that turned out in a divorce.
