Growing up as the biggest one around–be it at home, in school, or even among the giants of the NFL–makes you stand out. Trent Brown, for all his size, never really went out of his way to be different. He’s not the type to stir the pot just for the sake of it. He’s more the kind to stick to the playbook.
“Structure has never been an issue for me,” says the man who plays at the right tackle for New England. “You can even ask my parents. I’ve always been a pretty headstrong guy. Anything I wanted to do, I was going to do, no matter what anybody said.” Speaking of his parents, it’s worth diving a bit into who they are.

Trent’s roots trace back to a heritage of discipline, with parents Reginald and Tiffany Brown, who’ve been military veterans. When Trent and his big brother, Reggie Jr., came into the picture, their childhood was a mix of both football and basketball. Often under the watchful eyes of coach dad, Reginald, who’d throw them against older, tougher competition. Trent’s dad has been the bedrock, guiding him through life’s tackles and touchdowns, instilling the grind, discipline, and the spirit to keep pushing, no matter what. That fatherly playbook has been pivotal, shaping Trent not just into a formidable athlete, but a man of character and resolve.
And this resolve was tested when Hurricane Michael ripped through Georgia.

When Hurricane Michael unleashed its fury on Albany, Georgia, Brown’s gut reaction was a deep yearning to rush back home. While many rushed out of Albany before the storm struck, Brown’s folks, Reginald and Tiffany, stood their ground. Duty called for Reginald, who’s in the police force, to stay put, leaving Tiffany to brave the storm solo. The ordeal was nerve-wracking, yet, miraculously; they weathered the storm unscathed.

“There was devastation to the city, but the good Lord had us covered and missed our house,” Brown recounted, a sigh of relief palpable in his voice. In the aftermath, the Brown residence was plunged into darkness for days, severing the usual lines of communication. Nonetheless, they managed to keep the lines open with their son in New England, a small comfort that alleviated Brown’s mounting anxiety. “I was pretty concerned; that was scary. It looked like they dropped a bomb on the city,” shared Brown. But now, he has another storm to face.
With the Patriots not having extended his contract, he will now be looking for a new place to call home. His parents might have braved an actual hurricane, but can their son face this one?
