Did Travis Kelce just outshine Patrick Mahomes with that spot-on imitation? What do you think?

NFL star Travis Kelce is on a whirlwind. Chasing records on the field. Off the field, he is following his new passion, acting! And fans love it. The big news is finally here. Since Adam Sandler has revealed that the tight end has a cameo role in Happy Gilmore 2, everyone is excited. The film is making headlines everywhere. Wherever the Chiefs player goes, he gets asked about his role. The tight end talked with Sandler recently, on his New Heights podcast.

The Kelce brothers had a good laugh about the upcoming film. The TE boasted about Happy Gilmore Swing and said, “I can hit them about 320, consistently, off the drive. But I could be three holes over.” Sandler was impressed with Travis’ swing, but the TE’s imitation of Patrick Mahomes made him laugh his heart out. With a serious face and in his QB’s voice, Travis said, “You can hear Pat Mahomes in the background telling you where it went.

Over time, the tight end has acquired mastery over copying his friend’s (Mahomes) voice. Puzzled? Let us explain. Kelce mimicked his friend’s voice on the SNL when he hosted the show for the first time in March 2023. He did it again before the 8th edition of The Match (a charity golfing event between NBA vs NFL duos) in 2023. During the press conference, the tight end initially praised the quarterbacks ‘unique‘ voice. But everyone burst out laughing when he imitated his voice in front of him. Guess that gave him the green light! Because, since then, he has done it whenever he feels like it.

The TE repeated in this preseason as well. During the post-game interview (against Detroit Lions), he revealed that the signal caller whispered some words to him. But he couldn’t understand it. Mocking Mahomes’s voice, Kelce said, “You know he’s got the voice thing.” His imitation has a fan following of its own with many videos (of him mimicking QB’s voice) trending on TikTok time and again. Magnificent!

But his conversation with Adam Sandler on the podcast has a deeper meaning. The film bears a striking resemblance to the TE’s life.

Have an interesting take?

Travis Kelce, real-life Happy Gilmore?

Just like Happy Gilmore took up golf after failing ice hockey in the 1996 film, Travis also dabbled with ice hockey before becoming an NFL star. However, his story is a little different. He wasn’t a failure! Ed Kelce was impressed with his talent, even claiming that he could have become a professional ice hockey player. Kelce’s comment during the podcast, “You (Sandler) inspired an entire generation to get on the golf course” seems the inspiration behind his football career. Sandler also revealed a funny plot twist during the discussion.

When Jason Kelce asked Sandler if he was moving to New Jersey, the latter replied, “The whole thing was to hang out with Travis. That’s why we put it together.” He later disclosed that while writing the film, they thought of TE’s role as his first kid. That would have been epic! But going by the recent developments, Travis’ cameo is something else.
