Kansas City Chiefs had a little surprise for their former Cincinnati Bearcats TE. Travis Kelce, who spent five years with the Bearcats before joining the Chiefs in 2013, will get to watch them again at his current home. Yes, the Chiefs’ home, Arrowhead, will welcome the University of Cincinnati and the University of Nebraska for their first meeting since 1906 next year.

Although this clash was supposed to take place in 2020, COVID-19 impacted the proceedings. So finally, after four years of rescheduling, the Bearcats will take on the Cornhuskers on August 28th next year. Just moments after, this news came to light through the Executive Vice President of Arrowhead Operations, Matt Kenny. Travis Kelce couldn’t contain his excitement and shared his 3-word reaction to Arrowhead hosting his college team: “Bearcats at Arrowhead!!!”

Well, Kansas City was not originally in the plans before it got the game. This clash was set to take place inside Nippert Stadium, where Kelce used to play at one time. However, it didn’t materialise, and then the Colts’ home ground, Lucas Oil Stadium, was suggested. And that also didn’t work out. Then, finally, Arrowhead Stadium got the opportunity.

As Cincinnati’s athletic director John Cunningham expressed, “Opening the 2025 season at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium is an incredible chance to showcase Bearcats football in one of the NFL’s most iconic venues. This game is a unique opportunity that not only significantly benefits the program financially but also puts the Bearcats in the national spotlight.” Well, the Bearcats would be hoping all the spotlight remains on them when they take the Cornhuskers next year.

However, if Kelce decides to drop by Arrowhead to watch his boyhood team. Don’t be surprised if all the spotlight falls upon Travis Kelce. Now, this isn’t the only bit of flashbacks Kelce got this week. Taking on the Browns in week 15, Kelce got the opportunity to play in his hometown, Cleveland Heights.

Travis Kelce’s disappointing return to Cleveland

Kelce didn’t really do much on the day when the Chiefs convincingly brought a home victory back to Kansas City. After winning so many close games this season, the Chiefs finally got a big 21-7 win against the struggling Browns. Now, this was Kelce’s only fourth regular season game in his hometown. He also had a postseason appearance when the Chiefs took on the Browns in their 2020 AFC divisional round game. At that time, Kelce caught 8 receptions for 109 yards. Well, the Chiefs TE also got a TD to help the Chiefs win 22-17.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Travis Kelce steal the spotlight from the Bearcats at Arrowhead, or will they shine?

Have an interesting take?

Their first meet came in 2018, when Kelce dominated the Browns. He scored 2TDs while racking up 99 yards on seven catches, as the Chiefs came away with a strong 37-21 victory. Well, Sunday’s game was the first time Kelce didn’t catch a single TD against the Browns. But hey, at least his five-game winning streak remains intact. Now, the reason behind Kelce’s poor showing in front of the home crowd could stem from his girlfriend’s lack of presence (just kidding).

After completing her Eras Tour, Taylor Swift was nowhere to be seen in Cleveland. Although it wasn’t really surprising, considering she hasn’t attended a single game outside Kansas City. Well, no matter what, the Browns’ fans filled the stadium only to leave disappointed.
