This year marks a new milestone for the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The Chiefs have provided him with an extension that runs through 2027. But the extension is not monumental. What’s noticeable is the fact that Kelce secured a record-breaking deal received by any tight end in the NFL. Up till now, Darren Waller was the highest-paid TE in the league, but not anymore.
In the grand scheme of things, Travis Kelce is set to break even more earning records by the time this regular season ends. Kelce’s extension is worth $34.25 million, which splits to $17.125 million yearly play, outclassing Darren Waller, who made $17 million in a year on average. But that seems to be the right choice on the Chiefs’ part as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce set a post-season touchdown record (16) in NFL history.
This record is even higher than what Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski made. Ian Rapoport came out with the news just a few hours ago and Patrick Mahomes was delighted to share a note with Kelce. Re-posting Rapoport’s post, Mahomes wrote, “I told yall I’ll never let him leave!! Congrats my guy! @tkelce.” But that’s not the exciting part.

Till this point in his career, Kelce has made $89,943,975 in career earnings and these numbers might go up to $100 million next season. Who’s to say? The Kansas City Chiefs took to their X account and posted, “We signed the greatest tight end ever to a new contract.” For what it’s worth, Kelce hinted that he’s gunning for greater things in the coming years.
Kelce took to social media and said, “It’s an honor and a pleasure and I can’t wait to get after it these next two years but no better than right now. I’m getting fired up for this year. I just got out on the field with the boys and we’re back at it, baby. Chiefs forever.” But the Mahomes-Kelce duo would be incomplete without the Chiefs’ backend which is their HC, GM, and VP.

Chiefs and their extension journeys have been the talk of the town late. Not only has Kelce received a whopping amount as he was resigned by the Chiefs but the Red Army also extended Andy Reid, Brett Veach, Mark Donovan, and Chris Jones. This story started when the Chiefs gave Chris Jones a whopping 5-year $160 million deal with $95 million guaranteed.
The success in coaching, drafting, and managing assets has been unparalleled by others, which gave Chiefs motivation to keep these personnel around. Upon extending the trio, chairman Clark Hunt made an honest statement.
The trio continues.

“Individually, Mark, Brett and Andy each represent the best in the National Football League at their respective positions, and together, they make up one of the finest leadership teams in all of professional sports. They have been tremendous leaders for this organization on and off the field, and we look forward to their continued success in the years ahead.” The trio have been with the Chiefs for more than 7 years now and it only makes sense to reward their hard work and loyalty to the Chiefs Kingdom.
