Kayla Nicole is unapologetically enjoying her life currently. After her breakup with the TE Travis Kelce who is currently dating Taylor Swift, Nicole came forward and expressed how difficult the post-break-up time has been for her. However, the model recently also shed light on her coping strategies through therapy and meditation to get through the same as she participates in “self-care.”
Adhering to this mantra, Nicole recently has been quite active on social media, keeping her followers updated about the details of her life. Not only that but despite a controversy with Swifties, Kayla Nicole has been trying to mind her own business, boldly using her platform to share her opinion. Along these lines, the model came forth in support of Reggie Bush, the former football running back.
Nicole shared a post announcing the former running back’s reunion with his Heisman Trophy after 14 years. Bush had forfeited his 2005 award after reports of him flouting the NCAA’s previous policies came to light in 2010. It was expected that the USC product would be stripped of his trophy, so the athlete voluntarily gave up the award.

“Personally, I’m thrilled to reunite with my fellow Heisman winners and be a part of the storied legacy of the Heisman Trophy, and I’m honored to return to the Heisman family,” he said, as per ESPN. “I also look forward to working together with the Heisman Trust to advance the values and mission of the organization.”

While it’s better late than never, it is an apt time to revisit the previous NCAA policies that caused this whole affair. And Bush wasn’t the only one affected by the prohibition of student-athletes earning from their name, image, and likeness (NIL) policy either. And even after the rule changed in 2021, it took the RB three years to get his trophy back.
How the NIL rule affected college athletes like Reggie Bush
Prior to 2021, college athletes weren’t allowed to profit off their identities. This hard and fast rule forced Bush to forfeit his Heisman trophy in 2010 when investigations began with respect to the Trojan player having profited illegally during his time at USC. Donald De La Haye, or as we know him today, Deestroying, was another athlete severely affected by the NCAA clause.
