The overarching trend in the San Francisco 49ers’ 2023 season boils down to one key statistic. When the 49ers score 24 or more points, they’re unbeatable at 14-0. However, when they score fewer than 24 points, they’re winless at 0-5. Now, going up against a formidable Chiefs squad, known for their high-powered offense led by Mahomes, it might be a challenge for the 49ers to hit that 24-point mark.
The Chiefs, historically known for thriving in high-scoring shootouts during the Mahomes era, had a noticeable shift in 2023. They had fewer shootout games compared to previous years, indicating a change in their playing style. Conversely, the Chiefs found success in low-scoring contests, a departure from their usual strategy.
