Does the burglary of Mahomes and Kelce's homes reveal a bigger security issue for athletes?

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are losing. Losing what? They are 9-0 in the NFL, right? We’re not talking about their ongoing on the field. They are losing in their personal lives. Apparently, the 3x Super Bowl-winning QB and tight end’s homes were burglarized in October, and not many people heard about it.

This seems like a series of crime sprees taking place in Kansas, and the bandits clearly had an idea of what they were doing. An X account that goes by the name of BBQ Chiefs provided more details about what happened.

Mahomes’ $2+ million mansion was burglarized last month on October 6. The X handle confirmed it as they shared, “Cass County Sheriff’s Office documents say the burglary at Mahomes’ Belton, Missouri estate was reported to cops at around midnight on Oct. 6.” Right around the same time, the burglars targeted Travis Kelce’s $6 million property in Leawood, Kansas.

“Kelce’s Leawood, Kansas mansion was broken into hours later on Oct. 7, the same day the Chiefs played the Saints at Arrowhead Stadium.” TMZ initially broke the news, and the officials are still investigating the matter.

Per the TMZ report, Kelce’s abode was stripped of $20k in cash and the thieves left the back door of his property damaged. This came as a surprise to Kelce and Patrick Mahomes’ security, and they are corroborating with the officials to get into the depth of the matter. From what TMZ said, Kelce’s home was broken into around 7:33 PM on Monday, Oct 7—shortly after the ChiefsSaints MNF kickoff.

We don’t understand the specific losses Mahomes incurred, but the break-in happened around midnight on October 6 and reportedly on October 8. In the wake of all this, Travis Kelce has been extra cautious because he had to consider Taylor Swift’s security.

Travis Kelce keeps Taylor Swift’s security in mind after he got burglarized

TMZ suggested that America’s Sweethearts didn’t stay at Travis Kelce’s mansion after they reported the crime. Instead, the couple briefly shifted to a downtown Kansas City hotel on the night of the burglary. The Chiefs TE has been staying at his Leawood property, ever since his romance with the pop singer went viral.

Taylor Swift was there to watch the Chiefs win (26-13) against the Saints at home and shortly after the “Burglary/Breaking & Entering,” the couple was spotted in New York as the Chiefs had an early bye week. Kelce moved from Briarcliff to Leawood in 2023 to a 16k sqft, 6 bedroom, 6 bath property.
