With less than 48 hours before the Chiefs vs Texans, the Chiefs have released an injury update. What’s the report? The Chiefs categorized 10 of their 11 injured players as full-time participants! bang on! Isiah Pacheco, D.J. Humphries, and Chris Jones are now off the injury report. Great! Whereas, in the case of Texans, only three out of 10 injured players were FP. Worrisome, right? But potentially good news for the Chiefs! As a couple of hours remain for the Chiefs’ divisional game, Travis Kelce has come up with a strong point about the opponent that sounds alarming for the Chiefs.

On the podcast, New Heights podcast, Travis and Jason Kelce discussed several things about the ongoing playoffs. At 57 minutes into the podcast, they turned the conversation towards the Chiefs’ divisional round vs the Texans. When Jason asked the Chiefs No. 87, “[It’s been] 25 days since you last played, on Christmas. How about that? You gotta feel pretty fresh!” The 10-time Pro Bowl tight end said, “Well, I mean, I’ve been getting after it, I’ve been getting after it, never too fresh. You have to keep the wear and tear on the body. You can’t let your body get out of the zone.”

Speaking on the alarming defense of the Texans, the three-time Super Bowl winner TE said, “The Texans, I mean, you want to talk about playing fast – that D-line, that defense. It’s the real deal right there, and they showed it.” Travis Kelce further said, “They showed it this past weekend against the Chargers and what they can do. And they can create turnovers. They’re a tough team. they’re a tough team man, and I’m excited for the challenge,” while talking about the Texans’ defensive threat. But how has their defense really played, statistically?

Well, the Texans have pretty great defense! In the opponents’ yards per game, the Texans‘ defense ranks in the 3rd position with 312 yards. Whereas, in yards per play, they have secured the 4th rank with 5.1. But more importantly, the Texans’ defense is very good at conversions. What does this mean? It means that they are incredibly good at gaining yards when it’s a crucial 3rd down. So, in this case, their offense is #3 in the entire league, with 35.5% chances of gaining 10 yards in the 3rd down. Pretty scary for the Chiefs, right?

But you know what? The Texans have one more scary thing in their arsenal, an ultimate weapon so to speak. Texans’ head coach DeMeco Ryans discussed this X-factor strategy to win the divisional game.

Well, the Texans lost to the Chiefs last month in a 27-19 matchup. However, that was a regular season, so, what’s different in Saturday’s game? Well, the Texans would be the same, and the Chiefs would be the same also, but time and condition of the game won’t be the same! The divisional round counts everything as it’s a single elimination round.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Texans' defense really stop the Chiefs' explosive offense, or is it all just hype?

Have an interesting take?

So, for the upcoming game, the Texan’s head coach, DeMeco Ryans, and the team seem ready. In fact, Ryans has been indirectly warning the Chiefs about one defensive player in particular – Foley Fatukasi. The head coach thinks Fatukasi wasn’t around for the Chiefs game that they lost, so the other team might not really get how great he is at tackling!

Talking about Fatukasi, Ryans said, “As soon as he gets back out, you instantly see the impact he has when it comes to first and foremost the run game.” The 40-year-old coach further added, “We’ve been missing that. When you can have a guy that plays stout, plays physical as Foley plays, it helps us to play really good run defense and that’s always the No. 1 key.” What about Fatukasi’s stats? Well, he’s made 24 tackles, and 16 of those were solo! Plus, he even sacked a QB once this season.
