Super Bowl LIX witnessed the Chiefs versus Eagles rivalry once again but with a completely different outcome. The Eagles went home with the Lombardi Trophy, leaving the Chiefs moping about their missed three-peat and 22-40 lopsided loss. Last year, the red team celebrated their Super Bowl win by blasting Taylor Swift’s remixes in a Vegas nightclub. While the tides turned this year, the Chiefs still threw a bash. But the somber mood was evident as several players chose to skip the party, and this included Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
Kelce, right after the big game, was seen heading to his girlfriend, Taylor Swift’s suite at Caesars Superdome, with his head hanging low. Not only this, but he skipped his team’s after-party. Kelce chose quiet time for himself and later headed back for a low-key night at his Airbnb. Dejection became the theme for the rest of the night with an insider revealing, “Everyone just went back to their rooms or Airbnbs and just stayed in.”
In a now-deleted X post from The Chainsmokers, fans got a sneak peek into Trav’s post-Super Bowl hangout when the DJ duo was seen FaceTiming the veteran TE. It seemed like a small gathering with just close friends hanging out. Usual banter filled the conversation, and although it’s unclear whether Tay was at the Airbnb, Trav’s phone’s camera panned to DJ Dom Dolla standing right next to him. Now just over a month later, he is still coming to terms with the loss, and this is what the Kelce brothers discussed in their new podcast episode.

On their latest episode of their ‘New Heights’ podcast, the older brother asked: “Do you listen to sad music when you’re depressed, or do you listen to happy music?”
“Jason, the only way you can find yourself in the light is to find yourself in the dark first. I listen to music that is very telling of my mood, yes,” Travis Kelce responded. Now, that’s where things get pretty juicy. When Jason said that he likes sad country songs, Travis went straight up and said, “Yeah, I just listen to Taylor’s music. She has something for everything […] yeah, and how the Eagles broke my heart.”
Now, there’s no denying that almost half of the world probably listens to Taylor Swift. No matter what mood you’re in, there’s a solid chance Swift has a song for it. Feeling heartbroken? All Too Well will hit you right in the feels. Falling in love? Lover makes everything feel like a rom-com. Need a confidence boost? The Man is basically a power anthem. And if you just wanna vibe? Shake It Off will have you dancing like nobody’s watching.
And Jason Kelce can’t agree more with this. “That’s fair, that’s a good point,” he said in response to Travis believing Swift has something for everything. “No matter what mood, you can find some Taylor music.” However, it’s not clear yet what song Travis might have on loop after the Super Bowl loss. But one thing’s clear, he surely has her whole playlist on shuffle.
Hey, don’t be too surprised that he listens to Swift’s songs. After all, he has shared his love for her music previously, too. For instance, in June 2024, he listed top-3 songs on ‘Bussin’ With the Boys’ podcast: ‘Blank Space’, ‘Cruel Summer’, and ‘So High School’. But wait, things don’t end here.
Earlier this month, he even shared that ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ was his favorite album. Why? Well, it’s because it includes songs about him.

But coming back to Kelce’s football career, if we look at his last season, sure, he broke some of the NFL records. But no one can ignore his Super Bowl performance. Geez! Even Travis Kelce will be having a hard time ignoring that game. But one can only hope he returns next season, makes it to the big game, and leaves with a victory.
Are we going to see Travis Kelce with the Chiefs in 2025?
When Travis Kelce and the Chiefs entered the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb 9, the Chiefdom was rooting for Kelce to propose to Swift if the Chiefs would have won the Super Bowl. It was a rumor. However, the Eagles came with a stronger emotion of revenge and crushed their 3-peat dreams.
Turns out, there were no on-field kisses for Swift and Kelce. Plus, the tight end’s future in the NFL is pretty uncertain as well.
During one of his episodes on New Heights Podcast, Kelce stated about his retirement, “I’m gonna take some time to figure it out. And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it’s going to be a wholehearted decision, and I’m not half-a–ing it, and I’m fully here for them.” However, as things are shaping, it looks like Kelce’s gonna return for yet another year. The reason? His contract.

Well, the Chiefs, general manager Brett Veach, shared during the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, “He has one more year under contract. Still think he has that fire and desire to play. As far as I’m concerned, there is no deadline [for a decision].”

“I think we left it as he’d be back. And we’re excited to get him back and get him going.”
As we all know, the Chiefs were seeking that historic 3-peat. It is reported that the game’s result was the major reason why Travis Kelce was considering retirement. Besides, the tight end literally had the worst game of his career in the Super Bowl.
