In a recent episode of his podcast, New Heights, Travis Kelce shared the exciting news and inspiration behind the launch of “1587 Prime Steak House”, a new venture he is embarking on with his teammate Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. The establishment promises to be more than just a restaurant; it’s a gesture of gratitude towards the city that has fervently supported their careers.

The Chiefs duo aren’t the first sports players to make forays into the restaurant business. NBA great Michael Jordan also has his own chain called “Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse”. However, their USP is that they are rooted in community and are built on a thirst to take their personal love of fine dining to the masses.

Kelce revealed that the intriguing name, “1587 Prime,” isn’t derived from any significant historical or personal events but was rather chosen as an eye-catching and unique title. “Nope, just a couple of random numbers thrown together,” Kelce explained, dismissing any deeper significance to the numerical choice. However, it may not be as random as he claims. ‘”15″ and “87” happen to be Mahomes and Kelce’s jersey numbers, respectively.

The idea for the steakhouse sprang from a desire to give back to the Kansas City community. Both Kelce and Mahomes have been active participants in community work, and this new restaurant will serve as an extension of their commitment to the area. “Doing things in the community is something that we’re both heavily, heavily involved in,” Kelce noted, emphasizing the duo’s dedication to their off-field roles in Kansas City.

Earlier, Patrick Mahomes had even revealed a special item on the menu.

Patrick Mahomes has been somewhat reserved about the full culinary lineup at “1587 Prime”. However, he couldn’t resist sharing one tantalizing detail — the menu will proudly feature the “‘Andy Reid Cheeseburger’. That’ll sure be on there,” Mahomes assured, sparking curiosity and excitement about what other dishes might grace the menu when the establishment opens its doors in early 2025.

Their vision is coming to life in a grand 10,000-square-foot space located within the Loews Kansas City Hotel. The steakhouse will occupy two expansive floors, complete with private dining areas and a striking meat display. Beyond the food, ‘1587 Prime’ is set to impress with an extensive wine collection, poised to become the envy of wine enthusiasts across Missouri.

With “1587 Prime Steak House”, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are set to carve out a new niche in Kansas City, one that promises to blend luxury dining with a sense of community and camaraderie. It’s a venture that symbolizes their commitment not just to football, but to making a lasting impact on the community that supports them.
