Can DeAndre Hopkins be the game-changer the Chiefs need for their historic three-peat quest?

Buck up, folks—because Travis Kelce’s serving up a major heads-up for the Chiefs ahead of the Raiders showdown! On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, both Kelce brothers reflected on last year’s embarrassing Christmas Day loss to Las Vegas.

Jason Kelce pulled no punches, reminding everyone, “the last time the Chiefs played the Raiders, as every Raiders fan in Tahoe let us know, the Chiefs lost on Christmas day.” Ouch!

With Kansas City sitting pretty at 6-0, the sting of that defeat’s still fresh. Travis Kelce dropped a three-word warning that should have Patrick Mahomes and the team on high alert: “Don’t get complacent!” The nine-time Pro Bowl TE reflected on that rough loss, saying, “They were fired up to play a division rivalry that had got the better of him over the course of the past couple of years, but they were ready to play. They came out and they smacked us, man. We weren’t ready for it.”

With Aidan O’Connell injured, Las Vegas is scrambling. But they’re always a dangerous foe in divisional matchups. Kelce knows the Chiefs can’t afford to sleepwalk through this one. “We’ve got to make sure we ‘don’t get complacent’ this week and we come ready to play. Because that team’s a fiery team and they play their tails off every single time.”

Heading into Allegiant Stadium—where the Chiefs have never lost to the Raiders, Kelce made it clear that this game’s personal. He pointed out that a lack of focus can lead to surprises, especially in rivalry games. “If we don’t have the right mindset going into this game, this team can beat us,” he cautioned, pointing to the need for intensity.

Irrespective of their perfect record, the KC team’s grappling with injuries. JuJu Smith-Schuster? Sidelined. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown? Sidelines as well.

But Kelce praised the “next man up” mentality that’s kept the team rolling. “Man, I love them,” he said, beaming with pride. “Everybody fills their role and wants that opportunity to show the world we got everybody we need to win a championship.”

Chiefs eye three-peat with DeAndre Hopkins trade

Mahomes just got a BIG shiny toy. The Chiefs are reportedly finalizing a trade with Tennessee for WR DeAndre Hopkins. This move could just be the kind of stuff Kansas City needs to three-peat.

Hopkins, a 32-year-old five-time Pro Bowler, is expected to join KC in exchange for a conditional fourth-round pick. That’s a steal for a WR who tallied 1,057 receiving yds and seven TDs last season. Mahomes now has another elite target—a serious upgrade for Hopkins compared to playing with Will Levis and Mason Rudolph. D-Hop signed a two-year, $26M deal with Tennessee in 2023.

As the Chiefs chase their third straight title, who knows, Hopkins might be the missing piece.
