The Kansas City Chiefs look to win the Super Bowl again this year. With no top-quality WR within the Chiefs’ roster, Travis Kelce has become the main catcher for Patrick Mahomes’ air balls. And this partnership has been extremely fruitful for both. This TE-QB of the Chiefs has formed a destructive duo for the opponent’s defenses. However, their approaches to attain such success are different.

Recently, Mahomes spoke to the media ahead of Super Bowl 58 against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, Nevada. When he was asked about particular plays during the fourth quarter, Mahomes detailed the importance of team meetings and how plans are formed for each scenario. That’s when the QB threw light on Kelce’s aversion towards such frequent meetings.

Mahomes said, “We have these meetings, Travis hates them… where we go over every single situation every single week.” But he also talked about why Kelce could hate these tedious meetings. “They’re long repetitive meetings”, said Mahomes trying to justify Kelce’s hatred for them.

However, that’s where the players are shown films from games in previous years or previous weeks. This helps them prepare for their opponents.

The QB expressed to the media how he’s able to handle each game. The 28-year-old said, “I listen and I ask questions and I try to figure out every single situation for every single game.” He also mentioned the extra meetings before the game, “… An extra meeting that takes like an hour on a Friday or Saturday whatever it is um those little things are what kind of get you to this spot… I know the guys do even though they get a little bored and and tired in them.”

As the clock ticks towards the Las Vegas Super Bowl, the Chiefs have an opportunity to win the Super Bowl back-to-back. And these boring and repetitive meetings might be the difference between winning or losing. However, the media were very inquisitive to know from Mahomes what Travis has to offer to the team.

Patrick Mahomes highlights Kelce’s energy during practice

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have played together for seven seasons since 2017. The QB knows him inside out and backed his friend, Travis, and said, “Yeah I think it brings a ton. It’s the energy… I mean the energy that he has that he wants to take every single rep. We have to like get him out of practice, just to give him a rest and he wants to be out there for every single play. And I think that mindset when you see the Hall of Fame tight end and he wants to be the guy working the hardest it raises everybody’s standard.”

The Chiefs QB mentioned how this raises the standard of how Travis practices and how it raises the standards he prepares for the game. He further added, “Because you know that guy, that’s done at the top level wants to continue to do it every single week every single day and at the same time he has a great time doing it and I think that shows that you can work extremely hard and still have fun uh coming to work every single day.”
