Russell Wilson is recalling his golden days! The starting quarterbacks were opposites in playing style, but their willingness to win was definitely the same. For Wilson, Tom Brady was an inspiration, and for Brady’s mom, Galynn Patricia Brady, the NFL legend was as quick as Cam Newton & Wilson.
One would agree that whenever the two met each other during their prime period, something magical and thrilling would have happened. And, such was the case in a memorable game of 2012, which now the “benched” Denver Broncos QB, recalled with excitement while talking about the retired athlete.

In the latest interview on Sunday on “I AM ATHLETE,” Russell Wilson was asked about the defining moments of his career. He excitedly recalled a game against the Patriots in 2012 when he played for the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson expressed, “I think 2018 through 2020 really my rookie year, there was a moment that I figured out that I was ready.” He stemmed this phase from the support of two incidents, “I think it was two moments number one when we played the New England Patriots in Seattle, Tom’s top of his career.”
He mentioned, in that 2012 game, the Hawks were down by two touchdowns, and Wilson led a comeback, throwing two TDs to Braylon Edwards and Sydney Rice. His team overcame a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter, stunning New England. This experience marked a significant moment for Wilson as a rookie, facing and overcoming a top-tier opponent like Tom Brady. Wilson remarked, “we won the game, and that was like a moment for me, like obviously Tom Brady this and that and then so that was my rookie year.”
The other moment he recalled playing against the show host Brandon Marshall and his former Chicago team right after defeating Brady. And then, Wilson led his team toward their first Super Bowl under his guidance, and since then, he has become a spectacular QB in the league.
However, as time passed, Wilson got his desired coach Pete Carroll. But Wilson was later traded from the team to Denver, and some argued the trade was because of Carroll. Nevertheless, Wilson has no hate for Carroll as he recently revealed his heart.

Russell Wilson revealed a secret of Pete Carroll!
In the same podcast show, “I AM ATHLETE,” Russell Wilson expressed his love for his former coach, Pete Carroll, despite the allegations of him trading Wilson out of the Hawks. The 35-year-old said, “We’ve always had a good relationship. He was like a father figure to me.” He recalled his recent visit in Carroll’s farewell party, as the 72-year-old was released in January this year.
Wilson added, “To me, going back to see Pete was because of the love that was there. I got no hate in my heart. Just love. Just love in my heart.” This statement by Wilson is evident from the fact that the quarterback recently revealed a secret of their continuous strong bond. Wilson admitted that Carroll kept texting him regularly to check on him throughout his 2023 campaign with the Broncos.
