“We gotta be our biggest critic and that’s what we are gonna do and see when it can improve on. The only thing really matters- how we win. Whether we throw 400 yards or rush with 49 yards will win the game 3-0. I don’t give a f—.” When Saquon Barkley said this after the wild-card win against the Packers, he meant it. Period.
The Eagles are just one game away from stepping into the Super Bowl game. Who do they have to deal with? Jayden Daniels‘ gang. But here is a catch… two important players were declared injured after the Baltimore game. And the Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was among them. So there is still a cloud of anxiety looming over Philadelphia. But amid the worrisome updates, Tom Brady has analyzed Jalen Hurts’ impact on the team.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion was on Colin Cowherd’s show where he discussed this weekend’s conference rounds. When asked about the Philadelphia Eagles, Brady carefully elaborated on the good and the bad. Firstly, Brady stated, “I think they do things very uniquely but how Roseman’s done an incredible job assembling that team. I think he’s a guy that lives and breathes football every single day. When you think about being tough, you think about the offensive line and running the football and the defensive line and their ability to stop the run.” Then he praised the Eagles for having dynamic players like Barkley.

He continued the point, “They do have some personalities but when I look at Jordan Mailata when I look at Lane Johnson and [Landon] Dickerson and [Cam] Jurgens and Mekhi Becton coming in there, the strength of that team is their offensive line and Saquon.” Tom Brady added, “They’re just tremendous. That dominating Force they have up front is absolutely incredible and the defensive line has done a tremendous job. Williams has done a great job. Jaylen Carter’s had a great second season. Sweat’s done a great job. They lost Brandon Graham and Huff to injury and they’re still producing at a very high level.”
So, what’s his take on Jalen Hurts’ impact? Well, it’s a little surprise that Brady didn’t even mention QB Jalen Hurts once. He named half the locker room but not Hurts. On top of that, he heaped credit on the OL. Could he be implying that any QB could do a good job with such quality protection? It would line up with Jalen Hurts’ dip in performance in the last two games. In this postseason, he has passed for only two touchdowns, completing 68.3% of attempts for 259 yards. But here’s the kicker, Hurts has been sacked nine freaking times in those two games. So perhaps Brady’s simply saying the OL is capable of stepping it up to have a greater impact.
But it’s no secret that Jalen Hurts came in for a little criticism for his poor passing performance in the divisional game. After a bright start, he failed to register a reception for nearly two whole quarters as he threw six incomplete passes in the first half. This reminds us of when A.J. Brown pointed this out about Hurts in some misconstrued banter. It happened at the start of December 2024, when Brown was asked about the problem with their plays and he just said, “Passing.” But he later cleared the air about feud-related rumors between them. Well, the Eagles have made it to the conference round anyway. And you can never count a healthy Jalen Hurts out of the contest.

Positive update on Jalen Hurts’ injury
Nick Sirianni gave a crucial update about Jalen Hurts and Quinyon Mitchell‘s injuries. NFL reporter shared this news on X writing, “#Eaglescoach Nick Sirianni tells reporters that QB Jalen Hurts (knee) will be out there for the walk-through today, as will rookie CB Quinyon Mitchell (shoulder).” Jalen Hurts was an estimated LP at the walkthrough on Wednesday. So was Quinyon. However, with many others estimated at the same status, it’s the general feeling is that Hurts should feature against the Commanders.
The Eagles QB was injured in the 3rd quarter of the divisional game against the Los Angeles Rams. After he hurt the knee, the QB was only able to throw 3-3 for 19 yards. Plus, he was sacked a staggering seven times in the game. Quinyon Mitchell, the cornerback, also injured his shoulder in the same matchup. Tough game, right?
