Back-to-back Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, are playoff-bound and ready to chase another ring. With Andy Reid calling the shots and Patrick Mahomes leading the charge, this team’s got championship vibes written all over it. The locker room’s locked in, the fans are hyped, and even the GOAT, Tom Brady, is giving them a nod.

Speaking with Kevin Burkhardt during the NFL on FOX show, the GOAT warned all other playoff teams in the AFC and said, “I think if it’s a one score game, I’m taking Patrick Mahomes any time because he’s just, he has got that championship DNA. He hasn’t flinched either.” That’s a huge endorsement. The Chiefdom is already pumped up about their team to create history.

All the other teams would be carefully watching. The AFC only has 2 spots left for the postseason. Apart from the Chiefs, the Bills, Steelers, Texans, and Ravens have also qualified. The 6th placed Chargers and 7th placed Broncos also look set to qualify as they already have 9 wins each. Though Tom Brady chose Patrick Mahomes and his team, Josh Allen & co. just decimated them in the week 11 matchup. However, the Grim Reaper becomes a different player in the playoffs, particularly his interceptions.

In 18 postseason games in his career so far, Patrick Mahomes has a 15-3 win-loss record. With 456 of 672 passes (67.9% completion rate) in 41 touchdowns and 8 interceptions, he has guided his team to 3 Super Bowls in 7 seasons. Even this season, they are set to finish as the top seed, as they have a 14-1 win-loss record, while the second-placed Bills have an 11-3 record. However, there’s one constant threat.

The Chiefs 2024 campaign was plagued by injuries. Even now, Patrick Mahomes is dealing with an ankle injury. Though he played against the Texans in Week 16 and won, the fans are concerned.

Can anyone stop Mahomes and the Chiefs, or is another Super Bowl win inevitable?

Patrick Mahomes talks about his injury after week 16 victory

Patrick Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain during the Week 15 game against the Cleveland Browns. He got hit hard by a few defenders as he threw an incomplete pass. Even though he got hurt, he still seemed to move pretty well during the game. After the Week 16 game, he said, “I felt like I was ahead of there, that one; it kind of hurt just to walk in general, whereas now, I can kind of move around walking and stuff like that. Now, it’s just trying to get even better for this next game.” That’s great.

Even stat-wise, he opened the scoring for the Chiefs with a 15-yard run ending in a touchdown. With playoffs beginning in 20 days, Andy Reid and his staff would have to look into the depth of their roster to find the best players. Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown making his debut was also great news as the O-line missed him. So it’s time to go all-in against a stacked Pittsburgh Steelers squad on Christmas Day. Can Mahomes and the Chiefs turn this matchup into a holiday party?
