Did Tom Brady's playful jab at Jalen Hurts cross the line or was it all in good humor?

Not a good side for a quarterback to fumble under center. And the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts would love to forget week 4 and move past it as quickly as possible. A fumble like that in the first down? Yikes! And you can bet Tom Brady wasn’t holding back.

Debut season in broadcasting? No worries. The GOAT is taking it head-on. Brady did not like what he saw and straight up had a criticism lined up for Jalen: “He needs better pocket awareness.” Guess Hurts forgot that if you dodge a guy in the pocket, he is still there!

With the Eagles in the red zone, Lavonte David swooped in for the strip sack. You can call it a sack, but it was as simple as snatching the ball right from Jalen Hurts grasp. Talk about a momentum killer! With the sack, David improved his career sack total to 34.5, tying him with Chidi Ahanotu for the seventh-most in franchise history.

And guess what? The Bucs were on lock as it was Hurts’ seventh turnover of the season (four interceptions and three fumbles), and the 27th since last year. Ouch! This trend is starting to feel like a broken record for Philly fans.

So, what’s the deal here? Turnovers are a quarterback’s kryptonite. Tom Brady weighed in, saying, “Part of the development of a quarterback is learning how to take care of the football.” Wise words from the GOAT! Hurts has to recognize that pressure and make smarter decisions. As Brady points out, it’s a balancing act: “I love making big plays, but I’ve got to eliminate bad plays.”

For the Eagles, these turnovers could derail their playoff aspirations. As for now, they are getting Hurt!

Can the Eagles not rely on Jalen Hurts?

Jalen Hurts is in a bit of a turnover spiral, and it’s starting to feel like a recurring nightmare for Eagles’ fans. In Sunday’s showdown against the Saints, Philadelphia went scoreless in the first half, with Hurts’ careless giveaways keeping the scoreboard frozen.

Sure, he rallied for a game-winning drive late in the fourth, but those turnovers are like a quarterback’s worst enemy, turning potential victories into frustrating defeats.

With the 2024 metrics so far, Hurts’ 4 INTs this season have left him clutching to the rookies club. Having had his Baptism by fire in 2020, you definitely do not expect Jalen to be in this. Only Anthony Richardson and Will Levis have thrown more picks than him so far this year, and that’s not the kind of stat that inspires confidence.

Now, here’s a wild stat for you: Hurts has racked up 26 turnovers in his last 21 games. Remember when he was the poster boy for ball security? In 2022, he led the Eagles to a remarkable 14-1 record with just six interceptions over 15 games. Fast forward to now, and he’s turned the ball over in eight straight regular-season games! It’s clear he needs to tighten things up if he wants to keep the Eagles flying high. So, how can Hurts shake off these turnover blues and reclaim his mojo? The clock is ticking!
