Is Brady's dual role in the NFL a bold move or a risky gamble with league bylaws?

Tom Brady might be stepping into risky territory! The GOAT dropped some serious gems on SiriusXM NFL Radio, and let’s just say, it’s got us all splitting up.

“I love sports, I love football, and I love teams,” Brady said, channeling his inner fanboy. He’s all about being involved with football, alluding: “The best thing is just to be involved with NFL football, so we’ll see things go over the course of time or what contributions I can make to the NFL in general.”

It sounds like the seven-time Super Bowl champ’s still got that competitive fire burning bright! He even reminisced about his journey: “Like I said, last week I came full circle, so the good part is I’m involved in FOX, which I love doing. I’m doing broadcasting, and I love that, and nothing’s gonna get in the way for a long time.”

Now, here’s the kicker: while he’s loving life as a broadcaster with the $375M deal, he’s also stepped into the ownership game as a newly minted 5% owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Sounds like a sweet gig, right? Not so fast! The NFL’s got some strict rules that could rain on his parade.

Per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the league’s bylaws are like a playbook. They’re designed to prevent minority owners from having official roles within their teams unless they’re kin to the principal owner. “A rule put in place to prevent teams from using equity to entice people to take jobs with them,” Breer explained. Talk about a buzzkill!

Despite the restrictions, Brady’s potential influence is palpable. Many believe he could turn the Raiders into a powerhouse. Luring sponsors and elite players? Like moths to a flame! One anonymous NFC exec even suggested that the 47-year-old might find more joy in a hands-on role than in his cushy broadcasting seat. Could we see the GOAT trading in his mic for a clipboard?

Interestingly, Tom Brady’s ties to Las Vegas run deeper than his new ownership stake. He swung by a practice in 2023, hanging out with interim coach Antonio Pierce and GM Champ Kelly.

For now, the champ’s focus will be consultative, working behind the scenes during the off-season. But once the NFL lifts the restrictions? Watch out! As Brady steers through the tricky waters of ownership and suspension, he’s still shaking off the ghosts of Deflategate (remember that 2015 drama?)

Tom Brady’s legal blitz against Deflategate suspension

Brady flipped the damned script on Deflategate. After the league gave him a four-game suspension for allegedly deflating footballs during the 2015 AFC Championship Game, he took matters into his own hands and marched into court. Spoiler alert: he won!

Judge Richard Berman ruled against the league, declaring the suspension null and void. “The parties tried quite hard,” Berman noted, but Brady’s legal team had the upper hand. Reports circulated that the NFL was willing to cut the suspension down to three games—if Brady would admit guilt. Yeah, didn’t happen.

The former QB’s camp threw down the gauntlet, armed with 19 past arbitration victories, proving that he wasn’t just another player in the league’s game. “All four of our arguments are strong,” a source confidently claimed.

The Deflategate drama’s got a plot twist, leaving us abuzz about what this legendary QB might do next. One thing’s for sure: Brady’s rewriting the playbook!
