Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa doesn’t want to be known as the face of the league’s brain injury concerns. However, he’s fully aware of the reality. The team viewed Tagovailoa, drafted in 2020, as their long-term leader. But his injury history, including two concussions during the 2022 season, changed the narrative. In fact, his third head injury compelled the NFL to update its policy on how concussions are reported. Despite this, his injury troubles persist, as most recently he suffered another major in Week 2 of this season. However, now that he is expected to return soon, the quarterback is clear about one thing.
During a recent 13-minute press conference, Tua Tagovailoa stressed that he would sacrifice anything right now, even his death, to be back on the gridiron. Wow! That’s how a passionate and determined player speaks. The 26-year-old, who is speculated to return soon, expressed about his future injury concerns, “I appreciate your concern, I really do. I love this game and I love it to the death of me, that’s it!”
“To the death of me.” Well, that was a major topic of Monday Night Countdown on NFL on ESPN. Adam Schefter shared the news of Tua Tagovailoa’s potential return in the next game. In addition to that, hosts Scott Van Pelt, Ryan Clark, Jason Kelce, and Marcus Spears, too, dived into the quarterback’s recent and future statuses. They held this discussion because the QB suffered a major injury for the third time in his NFL career. Most of the fans wondered if he might be retiring soon, or if the doctors might suggest he quit football.

But it seems, probably that’s not going to be the case. According to Clark, “I talked to someone in Miami and they said that Tua Tagovailoa underwent extensive testing both emotionally, and physically. Obviously every scan you could possibly do to say that he could was fit to return to the football field and not one doctor, not one Medical Professional, told him he should consider retiring.” He further added that no one told him that retirement was the best path forward. However, in addition to that, Clark also pointed out that doctors couldn’t predict if one hit, two hits, or even more would cause long-term issues for Tagovailoa.
Nevertheless, fans expect Tua Tagovailoa to return to the field soon. But he has already cleared another major concern of the team.
Is Tua Tagovailoa passing the buck?
At present, the Dolphins are sitting at 2-4 this season. Their quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was also out due to injury. It’s obvious for the Miami nation to want someone who can save the team. However, the reality was no one was able to save the team. And now, as the quarterback of the franchise is returning, fans are eyeing the team’s wins in the future. But hold on to your thoughts!

Tagovailoa’s recent statements will compel you to change your perspectives if you listen to them. Yes! The Miami captain will not try to be the savior of the struggling team. As he mentioned in a presser on Monday, “I don’t think for myself I put any pressure on myself coming back and having to save the team.” So, how will the team be saved? Well, Tagovailoa has the answer for that too. According to his plan, “I think what we have to do is we’ve got to look at this past game, all 11 guys on the field, were we given an opportunity with the plays that were called to score on every drive? And if we can say yes, then we can look at ourselves and see what we can do to get better moving forward.”
This means the QB is asking his team to self-assess and come back stronger. Well, it looks like a coach’s perspective. Nevertheless, Tua Tagovailoa is returning to practice on Wednesday. And if things go right, he will also play this Sunday against the Cardinals.
