Legendary RB Derrick Henry is looking forward to parting ways with the Titans. Derrick Henry is seldom associated with the Titans. The RB has spent eight years of his life with the team. Henry was drafted in 2016 by the Titans and has been a mainstay since. With 88 career TDs Henry has made a statement based on exceptional performances. This is the greatest number of TDs by any RB for the Titans.

After his below-par performance in the 19-16 loss against the Texans, he announced his decision. This loss has badly struck the team’s hopes of securing a playoff spot. With only three games left, the Titans look down and out. Henry covered only nine yards on sixteen carries, making it his worst performance ever.

Derrick Henry’s contract is about to end soon.

The Titans renewed Henry’s contract in 2020. He signed a four-year contract at $50 million that will end this year. After the loss against the Texans, Henry has hinted to become a free agent. MLFootball has shared his thoughts on the future. In a post on X MLFootball broke the news, “RB Derrick Henry strongly hints that he will leave Tennessee in free agency”.

 

The post included his statement that came after the embarrassing loss, “I’ve been here my whole career. I definitely want to go out strong, which isn’t the case”. The Titans will face the Texans again in the remaining three games. Keeping this in mind Henry further added, “Just trying to give it my all these last three games and leave it all on the field.” After he leaves rookie Tyjae Spears will carry the baton forward. Other than this the inclusion of WR DeAndre Hopkins to the main squad will provide benefits in the future.

It’s quite sure that Henry and the Titans will miss each other after parting ways. His absence will surely leave a gap in the Titans’ offensive unit. That’s exactly where the role of the veteran WR DeAndre Hopkins holds importance.
