Nothing is working for the Cincinnati Bengals. They are pushing hard for a win but can’t get it. The Commanders rubbed salt on their wounds in the recent encounter. Ja’Marr Chase gave them the lead in the first quarter itself, but once the Commanders took off, there was no looking back. Joe Burrow couldn’t take them to a win. And he is being attacked left, right, and center.
Super Bowl winner Chris Canty tore into the quarterback after the defeat. His rant started with, “When your quarterback has a chance to go win the game, he has got to win the game. And Joe Burrow didn’t do that. Jayden Daniels did.” The comparison against a rookie must be hurting Joe Cool. But the rookie gave a tough competition. In yesterday’s game, Burrow had 29 of 38 passes with 324 yards and 3 touchdowns while Jayden Daniels had 21 of 23 passes with 254 yards and 2 touchdowns.

According to the former linebacker, the Bengals depend heavily on their offense to win the game. He based his statement on the fact that they spend heavily on their offense. Canty even gave a fact that what the Bungles’ spend on their offense is in the top 5 of the league. Fact-check, he is right.
They stand at the 5th position (behind Rams, Chiefs, Colts, and Giants) in offense contracts. In 2024, the team spent $130 million on offense compared to $113 million on defense. A major chunk also goes to Joe Burrow’s $55 million annual salary. But he isn’t giving the results.
“I am tired of all the excuses for Joe Burrow. Oh, the defense let him down. No, Joe Burrow let Joe Burrow down. Great stats. But what did you do when the game was in the balance? You know, the answer is it’s not enough.” The loss has upset their plans in a big way. Burrow is doing everything he can, but the offense isn’t delivering.
Commanders had more possession (33:06) compared to the Bengals (26:54). But the difference was in red zone conversion from 20 yards. While the Bengals converted only 2 out of 4 attempts (50%) into a touchdown, their rivals were spot on with 3 out of 3 attempts (100%). This might have upped their confidence on the ground.

Joe Burrow is still hopeful of a better future
The defeat against Commanders needs serious evaluation. Burrow and Head Coach Zac Taylor were seen having a chat on the sidelines. Both must be thinking about what to say to fans who were disappointed with the upset loss. Even though the QB became the 2nd quarterback in 2024 to score 2 touchdowns with 300+ yards, the team took an L.
The sense of uncertainty showed during the post-game conference when he said, “We were pretty consistent all day… We’re not happy with where we’re at, but by no means is the season over. 0 and 3, 14 left to play. We just have to continue to get better.”

While his message is clear and gives hope to Who Dey Nation, the time is ticking. It’s slipping like sand in the palms. And a win or two won’t do the job. After 0-3, they need a flurry of victories. The next weeks are crucial. Can the locker room overcome these 3 losses? If they want to, Joe Burrow needs to rework the strategies. It’s high time.
When Joe Cool came back after the surgery, everyone had questions about his surgically repaired wrist. Though he has shown no weakness, the team needs a win. Stay tuned for updates!
