It’s the third day of the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where college athletes have been working hard to showcase their skills. One of the most intense events is the 40-yard dash—so captivating that even NFL players are taking notice, including two of the league’s fastest: Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill and Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy.
On March 1, the Dolphins star took to X and made a bold claim after watching 11 prospects post blazing-fast times. He wrote, “These Combine 40-yard dashes got me feeling like I can run a 4.2.” Well, if he wants to prove it, he’ll have to be faster than Noah Lyles, the Olympian who once mocked the NFL and NBA. Hill’s real speed may soon be put to the test against the track star himself.

Tyreek Hill didn’t participate in the 2016 NFL Combine. But he showed his talent at the West Alabama’s Pro Day, where he impressed the scouts. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.29 seconds. This year, no one has been able to cross him.
Kentucky’s CB Maxwell Hairston ran the fastest dash with 4.28 seconds. Rutgers’ CB Robert Longerbeam was the 11th athlete to run the dash below 4.40 seconds in just 4.39 seconds. So, the Phins WR got a feeling that he could still outpace the athletes almost a decade younger than him.
Not only him, Xavier Worthy was also watching the combine. He also made a bold claim of the speed and tweeted, “There’s fast, then there’s me.” He has been a speed monster in the league as well. It served him well while raking up 9 TDs.
Just when fans thought Tyreek Hill was all about speed, he shocked the Phins fanbase by claiming he wanted out. However, he may have reconsidered his decision.

Tyreek Hill makes a promise to Dolphins
Defeat in the season-ender against the NY Jets ended their playoff hopes. It was the first time in WR’s career that he missed the postseason. The frustration came out as he said, “I am out,” opening doors for a trade-out. But that never materialized. And going by the recent developments, it will not happen.

The Dolphins receiver also promised to stay back at the Phins for another year. Tyreek Hill tweeted, “This will be my best year yet dolfans.” That’s great news for the fans. He is one of their key players. And HC Mike McDaniel wants the team to walk the redemption path.
The receiver also needs to improve his performance. 2024 was the second year after 2019 (and his rookie year) when he failed to reach 1000 receiving yards. It’s more concerning as he started all 17 games. Even TD-wise, he has the same number of TDs (6) as his rookie year, the lowest in 9 years.

Overall, the Phins nation is excited to see him back in action. They need an all-in effort from him if they want to become winners again. It would be interesting.
