The NFL Combine is basically the league’s version of “America’s Got Talent,” except instead of singing or magic tricks, it’s all about who can run, jump, and lift their way into a fat rookie contract. And let’s be real—no event gets people talking quite like the 40-yard dash. It’s the ultimate speed test, the football equivalent of a Fast & Furious street race.

Every year, someone lines up, takes off, and suddenly, scouts are scrambling to update their draft boards. Last year, it was Xavier Worthy, and the guy got a sweet $13.7 million contract from the Kansas City Chiefs. Who’s going to be this year taking the charge? Is someone confident enough to break his record? Oh yeah, there’s already some serious buzz building. And it’s from none other than the Texas Longhorns’ wide receiver, Isaiah Bond.

On Friday, Bond declared at the NFL Scouting Combine that he’s going to break Worthy’s 40-yard dash record. “I’m going to break the record tomorrow for sure. I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly I’m feeling great, I might run a 4.1,” he said. Huh! Looks like we’re about to see another Texas Longhorns wide receiver who’s going to break the 40-yard record.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. A wide receiver standing at 5’11” and weighing over 150 pounds named Xavier Worthy set a new record by completing the 40-yard dash in just 4.21 seconds. Worthy surpassed the previous record of John Ross, who finished the 40-yard dash in just 4.22 seconds.

Now, Isaiah Bond is feeling confident—so confident that he believes he can blaze through the 40-yard dash in 4.20 seconds, or maybe even push it to a jaw-dropping 4.1. And if you’re thinking that Bond is the only one looking to break Worthy’s record—think again. Because Texas RB Jaydon Blue also thinks he can beat Worthy’s record.

Seriously, if the 40-yard dash had an action movie, Texas would be starring in it—think Mission: Impossible, but the only mission is breaking speed records. Speaking of Blue, the guy’s top speed in college was 22.3 MPH. And if we do some math, Blue could run 40 yards in approximately 3.67 seconds if he runs with his top speed of 22.3MPH. Guess we’ll see it on Saturday.

Until then, let’s just wait and see because if young players are grinding out their way to get their rookie deal, someone’s returning on the gridiron for their 13th year.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Isaiah Bond really break the 40-yard dash record, or is it just all talk?

One more ride for Travis Kelce

Just ask Travis Kelce about his last three Super Bowls. On one side of the scale, you’ve got back-to-back wins—pure gold, no doubt. But this year’s Super Bowl? Let’s just say that side of the scale is carrying a little extra weight. Heavy enough to have Kelce seriously contemplating retirement. But retiring with a Super Bowl loss? That’s so not Travis Kelce.

Turns out, after all those speculations around his retirement, the tight end finally settled it with a text message. Sadly, Kelce himself didn’t post the message on social media. However, it was read out loud on the Pat McAfee Show during Thursday’s show. McAfee later hopped on his official ‘X’ handle and broke the news on Kelce’s future.

McAfee wrote in his post, “I reached out to source(s) on the future of @tkelce (Travis Kelce)…Source(s) said I’M COMING BACK FOR SURE…I’m gonna get in the best shape of my life this offseason…I’ve got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and I can’t go out like that!!!!”

During the Super Bowl against the Eagles, Kelce had a quiet performance, making just four receptions for 39 yards on six targets. Yeah, that wasn’t the right time for him to play like that. Ever since then, his retirement rumors were making headlines. Fast forward to now and the TE is ready to enter his 13th year for the Chiefs.

At this point, we can’t predict who’s happier after hearing this news—Taylor Swift or the Chiefdom. But one thing’s certain, Kelce is not the kind of player who wants to end his career with a tough Super Bowl loss. Besides, the guy’s surely looking to turn the tables in the 2025 season after having the worst game of his career in the Super Bowl earlier this month.
