The New England Patriots have had a horrific season. With a record of 4-12 and only one game to go, the Patriots were one of the first teams to be eliminated from the playoff race. For months now people have been wondering, what does future hold for head coach Bill Belichick? Now, Belichick has broken his silence and talks about the future.

He is the dinosaur of the footballing world. He’s been with the Patriots for more than 23 years now. And has been involved in different roles within the coaching environment for almost 50 years. But, the 8 times Super Bowl-winning coach’s future is hanging by the thread and he lets out his philosophy.

Now for 4 seasons in a row, the Patriots have failed to secure the AFC East division. It’s the second time consecutively, when Belichick’s men have not made it through to the playoffs. After enjoying so much success, this string of losses must hurt Belichick. However, the 71-year-old reveals his mindset in these tough times.

“Each week, get ready to go for that week, do the best you can to help your team win, and after that game move on to the next one. And at the end of the season, that’s the end of the season”, said Belichick on the Greg Hill Show.

But HC also revealed his frame of mind in the current situation. He said, “I’m committed to the team that I’m coaching right now, the players that are here. They deserve my best every day and that’s what I’m going to give them”. With this mental fortitude, Belichick would give it all next, in what could potentially be his last game with the Patriots.

Belichick’s last dance?

For years the Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Belichick enjoyed a bond that very few owners and HC’s have in football. But this freedom was on the back of several championships and since that well has dried up, Belichick’s next game against the New York Jets could be his last.

Both teams are ineligible for the playoffs and both teams would love to finish their seasons on a winning note. But only one can come out on top. And with his exit seemingly apparent, Belichick would want to end his time with a win and even if he stays, a win would solidify his position.
