The New England Patriots and the New York Jets had their last game of the season on Sunday. And it was a bad day for the Pats at their home ground. However, the Foxborough team’s quarterback, Bailey Zappe, has another factor to blame on.
The battle between the teams ended up with the Jets winning with a score of 17-3 over New England. As both teams ended their season with no playoff spot, they will now try to learn from their mistakes and perform better in their next season. Pats might even make harsh decisions. But before that, they had a last press conference of the regular season, and Zappe isn’t blaming the snow.

The Patriots had their 13th loss of the season with the last showdown ending with a major blow of 14 points. However, this game was different for quarterback Bailey Zappe, as it was played in weather conditions he has never experienced before. Zappe appeared in a post game press conference where he was asked about his experience playing in weather conditions like this, especially being a Texas native where they don’t see snow. But Zappe chose not to blame the weather.
The quarterback said, “This is my first time in weather like this. As far as throwing the ball…..wind’s blowing a bit if it’s snowing hard enough then that affects, you know how the ball spins if it hits the ball. I mean things like that just come into effect.” He continued saying that the biggest issue is that “when the snow starts building up on the field,” receivers are having trouble applying the brakes, and it’s challenging when half of the foot gets stuck in the snow, making the play difficult.
Zappe later admitted, “There’s no excuses. Both teams are playing. I’d play in it. So, I can’t sit up here and say weather screwed us. I mean both teams are playing.”
How was the weather at Gillette Stadium today?
According to the National Weather Service report, done two hours before the game, predicted three to five more inches of snow, mostly in the afternoon. And the winds recorded at 14 mph, with gusts up to 28 mph during the game. It was also told that the real-feel temperatures will drop to 16 degrees due to the breezy conditions. Similar thing happened in the afternoon game at Gillette Stadium.

Despite the snowy conditions, the Pats had a tough time on Sunday. They scored only three points, got six first downs, and struggled on third down with a 1-14 record. This offensive performance marked their worst season under Belichick.

The Pats’ 119 total yards against New York were the lowest in a game since 1992. And it definitely suggests the need for significant changes on offense for this team.
