Navigating the realm of public scrutiny is a daunting task for professional athletes, but Patrick Mahomes demonstrated a deft touch in steering clear of controversy during a recent interview.

On the IMPAULSIVE podcast, when asked about his thoughts on conspiracy theories, Mahomes responded with a measured approach, stating, “I saw a comedian one time talk…he was saying like it’s like your kids man there’s no way that they don’t have just like one or two conspiracy theories that are real you know like there’s no way they’re telling us everything the truth…I’m into like all the crazy ones but I mean I just know out of all of them that probably like one or two might be true.”

Mahomes then swiftly pivoted, revealing his tendency to avoid delving too deeply into such matters, opting instead to focus on his craft. “That’s Aaron Rodgers’ vibe. He’s extremely intelligent so I mean he went to Cal he’s intelligent so I’m sure he’s really dove deep in those I’m just going I like to be you know just kind of blind to him I want to just live my life with my play football” he said, drawing a parallel to the notorious approach of veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers on conspiracy theories.

Now, if you’ve been following the NFL for a while, you know that creating conversation around controversial topics is a skill that veteran quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers have mastered, but Mahomes prefers to take other kinds of inspiration from him.

As he candidly shared before the 2017 NFL Draft, “We look at Aaron Rodgers, who I love watching. And you see the Hail Mary and how it changes the games. That’s just the reason behind it.” This early fascination with Rodgers’ clutch performances foreshadowed Mahomes’ penchant for late-game heroics.

While their accolades and championship counts may differ, the numbers tell a remarkable story of sustained excellence between the two elite quarterbacks. Despite being relatively early in his career, the 28-year-old athlete has already matched Rodgers’ Super Bowl appearance total and boasts a superior 15-3 playoff record compared to Rodgers’ 12-10 mark.

Patrick Mahomes’ take on ‘Rigged’ Super Bowl conspiracy theories!

In the aftermath of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII victory, a whirlwind of conspiracy theories emerged, suggesting the game’s outcome was orchestrated to benefit political agendas involving Taylor Swift and President Joe Biden. Mahomes found himself fielding questions about these outlandish claims during a CNN interview then.

“Yeah, it’s been wild to see,” Mahomes acknowledged, addressing the controversy head-on. “I mean, I try to focus in on football as much as possible but there’s always some conspiracy theories out there. I just try to enjoy football and my family. I try to stay off social media as much as possible.”

Mahomes’ measured response echoed the sentiments of Aaron Rodgers, who has faced his fair share of scrutiny surrounding his beliefs and public statements. Rodgers, known for his outspoken nature, has not shied away from voicing his opinions on topics ranging from COVID-19 vaccines to government conspiracies.

In a 2021 interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers addressed the backlash he faced for misleading statements about his vaccination status, stating, “I’m not some sort of anti-vax, flat-earther. I believe strongly in bodily autonomy and the ability to make choices for your body, not to have to acquiesce to some sort of woke culture or crazed individuals who say you have to do something.”

While Mahomes and Rodgers have taken different approaches to navigating the public spotlight, their shared commitment to excellence on the field remains unwavering, serving as an inspiration to the next generation of quarterbacks.
