There are a lot of mixed reactions about the Denver Broncos’ head coach, Sean Payton after Russell Wilson lost his position as a starting quarterback. On the one hand, we saw Payton yelling at Russell Wilson; on the other, he came out defending the Broncos signal caller in the latest press conference.

Sean Payton is more focused on the present, and per him, there are no hard feelings for Russ, and his decision is for the good of this Denver team. However, there’s something else about Wilson’s contract that bothers everyone, despite what Sean Payton thinks and says about the Broncos’ QB.

Rather than asking what Wilson did to get benched, the reporter asked Payton what he didn’t do to end up in this position. Payton didn’t blame the QB and highlighted that this decision resulted from the team’s inability to score and get the ball in the red zone. His response indicates that the Broncos are trying the classic trial-and-error techniques to see what works for the better of this team.

“Rather than get into the specifics, because I think that would be unfair today, it’s more about what we weren’t doing effectively enough offensively. When we were getting two or three turnovers, that’s one thing, but, uhm, ultimately, our job is to get the ball in the end zone, and we’ve got to be more efficient doing that, all of us,” said Sean Payton.

However, this is not the only adversity the Broncos’ QB is dealing with, and there is a lot on his plate right now. He is on the brink of saying goodbye to the Broncos, and things might end on an ugly note for both parties.

Russell Wilson is facing a lot of adversities right now

We might not even see Russell Wilson play with the Broncos next year. Per Dianna Russini, the NFL insider, Russell Wilson thinks that the Broncos will make a move on him and will find a replacement for him by March. This became clear after some distasteful details about his contract emerged.

Russell Wilson has about $37 million in injury guarantees, which the Broncos are avoiding to pay out. The payout will come after Wilson completes his 2024 season. However, he is now asked to extend the payout date, and if he doesn’t, the Broncos will fire him from the organization. This sounds like a scare tactic, but it has a 100% chance of coming true.
