Talking to the post-game conference, Stidham was visibly happy with the outcome. Starting the first NFL game in 5 years on New Year’s Eve, and coming out with a win – It doesn’t get any better than that. “Super excited… I mean this is my third opportunity to start in five years“, the QB recalled his journey in brief.

He also revealed the first person he shared the happy news with – his wife Kennedy. “Once I got back to my locker, I texted my wife! What a cool feeling it is to get my first NFL win!” Stidham was smiling throughout the conversation.

The Broncos ended their Golden era with a ring as Peyton Manning waved goodbye to the NFL after Super Bowl 50. Since then, it has been a story of building hopes and crushing truths. The franchise got its hands on Russell Wilson last year hoping for better days, but Wilson’s two seasons have been mere shadows of his former self.

Aside from winning on week 18, they would also need favorable results from a few other games to keep the hope alive. Russell Wilson’s ineffectiveness in the most crucial time of the season forced Payton to make the bold decision to replace him.
