One of the most sought-after wide receivers in the upcoming NFL Draft 2024 season, just received a piece of shocking news. A setback that could put Texas A&M alum, Ainias Smith’s hopes of going pro this season in peril.
The younger brother of former NFL safety Maurice Smith is at the NFL Combine 2024 in Indianapolis. It is here that doctors informed him of the stress fracture!
Ainias Smith gets his draft dreams fractured

It’s only been a couple of days since the 2024 Combine kicked off. As per reports, the 22-year-old WR was diagnosed by the doctors to have a stress fracture in his left shin. Per protocol, Smith will have to terminate his workout and training at the Combine.

It has also been reported that Smith will be visiting a specialist next week. If the reports turn out to be true, the WR’s fantasies of the 2024 Draft could be dashed!

Smith would’ve wanted a different outcome than his elder brother. Since Maurice went undrafted at the 2017 NFL Draft, but as fate would have it, his chances of being drafted are now slim. And an injury at the Combine.
A fate of many before the pro day
In 2017, Maurice wasn’t even invited to the NFL Combine. With Ainias’ high-flying form for the Texas A&M and invitation, things looked wonderful for the budding football star. But an injury at the Combine is nothing new, every year several players face injuries at the camp.

Last year, 5 athletes suffered injuries at the NFL Combine and their fates too looked bleak. However, four of them went on to be drafted by the top NFL teams and WR Jordan Addison was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round itself! So, all is not lost for the high-flying WR!
