Is Joe Mixon the new Tom Brady when it comes to sideline tantrums and broken tablets?

The heat is on. Sometimes things don’t go your way on the gridiron. That’s when all hell breaks loose. Such is the intensity of the game. It happened during the week 10 matchup between the Texans and Lions. The running back Joe Mixon was at the center of the storm. It was a similar incident to what Tom Brady did in 2022. Let’s unravel it.

He started the scoring for his side. During the game, he got so angry at one point that he came to the sidelines, grabbed a coach’s tablet, and threw it in rage, breaking it. He also hit his helmet. His quarterback CJ Stroud tried to pacify him but all in vain. Now, he has risked a fine by the league. Many athletes before him have made this type of mistake.

Tom Brady started doing this in 2022. After winning the week 2 game against the Saints, he broke two tablets. This sent shockwaves among the fans of the GOAT. No one had ever expected such antics from the legend, but here they were. All in and full of ambition.

Later, the league sent memos to all teams, briefing them about not breaking any tablets. One question was blaring in the face, why did they not fine him? It’s simple. The league wouldn’t want such things to get unwanted attention.

While we talked about the tablets that he threw in the feeling of stress, talks were going on about the different types of fines.

Have an interesting take?

What violation did Texans RB Joe Mixon make?

Against the Lions, his anger was caught on TV, and several fans watched it around the world. The NFL is very strict about this. Under no circumstances do they want a negative message out of a player’s actions. So, different violations could be checked for the running back’s mistake on the sidelines.

Joe Mixon could be charged under the Player Safety Code of Conduct. It is also named the Flagrant Personal Foul, which he did by throwing a tablet under ‘Impermissible Use of the Helmet/Launching’. The amount of fine on the Texans’ player could vary from $22,511 (for the first time) to $45,020 (for the second time offense).

The Texans have to work on this type of situation. Players getting angry and emotional on the gridiron negatively affects the focus and strategy of the locker room. The game was also unique. While the Texans ended the first half with 23-7, the Lions completely derailed them by scoring 19 points in the second halftime. The game ended 26-23 in their favor.

With this, they have 6 wins and 4 losses but still occupy the top position of the AFC South division. It also gave the Lions 8 wins with 1 loss, and they still occupy the top position in the NFL North division. It’s a different race.  Scores matter, wins matter. Every team is now calculating their path to the playoffs. Some are trying to secure themselves.
