The Houston Texans failed to clinch a victory against the Ravens in Week 17 on Christmas Day. But what stung more was the gap between the winning and the losing score. 2-31 – That’s it! As obvious, DeMeco Ryans and the entire Texans community aren’t happy with their performance and the results, especially the franchise’s $49 million edge rusher.
Texans’ Pro Bowl defensive end Danielle Hunter recently talked to the media post-game. According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, Hunter was asked about his thoughts “on major problems defense faced against #Ravens powerhouse backfield of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.”
To which, the DE gave a bold statement, throwing his team under the bus. He said, “I just feel like a lot of guys were on their keys. There wasn’t enough energy. So a little bit of game plan better is another thing that we could do.” In addition to that, Danielle Hunter also made sure to talk about the Ravens’s star players such as Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.

Praising the two and their Ravens, the 30-year-old added, “They’re good football players. Lamar, he’s a dual threat. Derrick Henry, he’s the best in the best race position. So I feel like the biggest thing we can do is game plan better.” Hence, as disappointed with the game, Hunter thinks, “when we came out we didn’t have that much energy at first. We tried to spark it, but it was already too late. I feel like we just got to lock in even more coming up these weeks.”
Well, his statements appear similar to what the Texans’s head coach DeMeco Ryans said in his presser.

After losing the battle against the Ravens on Christmas Day, Texans’s HC DeMeco Ryans talked to the media about the problem. He said, “We didn’t execute,” as he highlighted some major mistakes in the game. Despite all this, Ryans also made sure to make one request to his team.

During the same presser, he said, “Check yourself,” asking the entire roster to analyze themselves and work on their shortcomings. But that doesn’t mean he left himself out of this category. While explaining his point, DeMeco Ryans made sure to talk about himself too, as he mentioned, “We’ll take the next couple of days here to look at everything, starting with myself. Everything starts with me. But as a team, we just stay together, figure out a way to come out playing better football.”
So, all in all, DeMeco Ryans, Danielle Hunter, and the rest are on the same page regarding regrouping and rechecking, before their regular-season finale against the Titans in January 2025.
