Since 2025 started, everything was going smoothly for Andy Reid‘s Chiefs until February hit. After their AFC Championship win against the Bills and their heartbreaking Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, everything changed—the Chiefs roster, locker room, and now even the announcer’s booth. On February 9, Patrick Mahomes couldn’t lead the Chiefs to a historic three-peat—heartbreaking. Just days later, his grandfather passed away. But it’s not just the franchise QB going through major changes; something different is going on in Kansas City right now. And according to the franchise’s official announcer, a lot has changed in the past few days.

The ‘Voice of the Chiefs’, Mitchell Holthus, took to Instagram to share a simple yet heartbreaking message. He wrote, “It is almost unimaginable that in a mere 34 days, we lost three GIANTS of the broadcasting world—Greg Sharpe, Dan Israel, and Bob Davis.” The 67-year-old Chiefs Radio Network announcer continued, “All three were great professionals and masters of their craft. However, all three had to endure a lot toward the end, and all three were selfless in their service to others and their families.” He also said he would miss them greatly and added that their creativity, courage, and caring nature would be a beacon of light.

Though he hadn’t worked directly with the Chiefs, he was a true broadcasting legend in Kansas City. And in a heartbreaking turn of events, just days ago, on March 13, 2025, Davis lost his wife, Linda. May they both rest in peace and remain together in heaven.

And on February 14, the city lost another legend, Greg Sharpe, widely known as the “Voice of the Huskers.” That day, Greg lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at 61 years old. He had contributed immensely to Kansas City sports from 1996 to 2002. It’s touching to know that he was also honored by the Kansas City Chiefs on October 8, 2024.

But one thing is certain—whenever Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes’ team step onto the gridiron, these three legends will surely be watching from above, shedding flowers and tears of joy from heaven. Rest in peace, Dan, Greg, and Bob.
