The Buffalo Bills have been handed a tough blow as linebacker Terrel Bernard gets injured mid-game against the Steelers. The Bills recorded a dream start to the game by registering three consecutive TDs, leading in till the middle of the second quarter by 21-0, including a record-breaking run by Josh Allen for a 52-yard TD.
The game was siding for the Bills despite the Steelers trying to make a comeback with Mason Rudolph’s 10-yard TD pass. However, a tragedy struck as Terrel Bernard injured his leg and made matters challenging for Josh Allen and Co. at a crucial stage in the wildcard clash.
Terrel Bernard’s injury looks serious

At the start of the third quarter, Terrel Bernard crashed to the ground and injured his ‘foot/ankle’ badly. Cameron Wolfe updated the status by posting on X, “Bills LB Terrel Bernard was carted off the field with a right foot/ankle injury.”

The teammates surrounded him as he was taken off the field, “Several teammates went to him to show him love as he was loaded up on the cart.” Wolfe further stated that “Bernard is having an excellent season.” He played with the Bills in every game this season and recorded 6.5 sacks in total.
Wolfe acknowledged the Bills’ vulnerable state regarding injured players, “Yet another key Buffalo player lost to injury.” After some time another update followed, stating that Bernard had been ruled out from the rest of the game. Buffalo Bills PR updated the status.

After he was carted to the blue tent, he was taken in for an X-ray on his ankle, and as per sources he suffered from an ankle sprain. Ian Rapaport shared the update, “What is believed to be an ankle sprain, sources said. X-rays were negative, MRI tomorrow.”
Bernard has managed to evade the fracture and is hoping that the MRI reports don’t come with any concerns. The Bills would need him to be completely fit if they manage to reach the next stage of the season, with tougher conditions awaiting them.

Terrel Bernard: an unanticipated find for the Bills
When Tremaine Edmunds left the Bills and joined the Chicago Bears, it left a big hole to fill in Bill’s defensive line. Mainstay LB Matt Milano handled the responsibility well but his week 5 injury raised even more concerns. He fractured his right leg, leading to concerns surrounding the Bills’ defensive side.

In the absence of other key defensive players, the Bills found the right replacement in the form of LB Terrel Bernard. 24-year-old Bernard has been the find of the season, with him having 143 total tackles this season to his name, 84 of which fall under solo tackles. He also has recovered 3 fumbles in the season, making him a valuable player for the Bills during important moments. His latest injury can become a major concern if the Bills advance to the Divisional round.
