The regular season has ended. And the Tennessee Titans have finished much below everyone’s expectations. They even had the same number of losses as the NY Giants and the Cleveland Browns. After finishing the season with a 6-game losing streak, fans wanted changes. And the management has finally given in to the rising demands. It started with firing their GM Ron Carthon and hiring football people. They interviewed the former Chiefs assistant GM Mike Borgonzi and things look promising for the franchise.
According to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, the team has reached a 5-year deal with Borgonzi till 2029. It took after having a long round of negotiations to finalize the deal. It brings confidence to the franchise of building a team that could win games. Borgonzi was a key factor for the Chiefs’ 3-peat and will aim to change the football culture in the locker room.

Mike Borgonzi was one of the 6 candidates they interviewed twice. But his vast array of experience stood apart. Since 2009, he has been handling different departments of the Chiefs. After confirming their new GM, the owner Amy Adams Strunk said, “Mike’s experience speaks for itself. He has been part of the core team that delivered four AFC championships and three Super Bowls over the past five seasons. It’s the type of standard I want to build here in Tennessee.” However, he has to decide their capabilities with the president of football operations Chad Brinker, and the head coach Brian Callahan.
The owner has clearly marked their boundaries. While Brinker will have the ultimate word on any matter, Borgonzi will decide the draft and free agency. The dynamics of the trio will be interesting. After a dismal 3-14 win-loss record in 2024, the Titans are looking for new talent. While keeping an eye on the free agency, the draft will have a huge role. It’s a must-watch.

After finishing last in the 32 NFL teams, the Titans have secured the 1st draft pick in 2025. Though they didn’t play any game against the Giants, they have a 6-7 win-loss record, overall, throughout history. For the starters, the head-to-head record decides the draft pick at first. Additionally, the second criterion is the win-loss percentage in common games (minimum 4). If a comparison is impossible, they will consider the strength of victory instead.
However, finishing last in the league is not a significant sign for any team. While Mike Borgonzi’s former team Chiefs is aiming for a 3-peat, he would prepare hard for the 2025 NFL draft between Thursday-Saturday, April 24-26, 2025, in Green Bay, around Lambeau Field and the Title Town District. It would be exciting.

Two of the Colorado players, QB Shedeur Sanders and CB/WR Travis Hunter, are the favorites. But will they come to the Titans? Looks highly unlikely. However, anything can happen in the world’s biggest and richest football league.
