The musical videos of Taylor Swift are always blockbuster hits. Similarly, videos of her entrance at the Kansas City Chiefs games always go viral, attracting millions of fans. This time, once again, her new entry video in the Chiefs vs Green Bay Packers game is becoming a sensation on the internet. However, this footage is also drawing attention to a man beside Taylor Swift.
With a current worth of $142.87 billion, the NFL is one of the biggest and most popular sports in the country. In addition to fans, several celebrities attend regular games and even perform at Super Bowl halftime. However, to help celebrities reach their seats, navigating through thousands of spectators requires tight security. In the last Chiefs game, Taylor Swift too was accompanied by a special security guard, who works with the Kansas City Police Department.

Kansas City Police Captain Daniel Graves, who is married to Police Chief Stacy Grave, was spotted working as private security for Taylor Swift during the Chiefs’ Sunday game against the Packers. He could be spotted wearing a red plaid jacket in the viral photos and videos. Graves is seen accompanying the singer alongside Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany Mahomes, and Lindsay Bell, the wife of Chiefs TE Blake Bell.

Swift, who has been dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, attended the game with four security personnel, maintaining a close watch on the surroundings. Graves walked behind Swift when Mahomes and Bell headed to the field, and one of the guards assured Mahomes, “I’ll send someone down for you.”
This isn’t the first time Graves has been seen with Swift; he was also present when she performed in Argentina last month. But the question is, does law and policy allow a captain to work as the private security of a celebrity?
Captain Daniel Graves was an exception?
The Kansas City Police Department has specific rules regarding officers’ outside employment, including private security and off-duty security work at venues like Arrowhead. According to Section IV of Policy 630, officers can only do law enforcement-related outside jobs within the city limits of KC.

A police spokesperson, Sgt. Jacob Becchina clarified that Captain Graves, who was with Tay-Tay, was not on duty or acting in a law enforcement capacity at that time. He later provided a link to the department’s policy on secondary employment and suggested directing other questions to the singer and her reps.

Becchina also emphasized that the inquiries about Graves were not related to any police department activity.
