New research has focused on Taylor Swift’s broadcast screen time during the Kansas City Chiefs games. Contrary to the buzz on social media, her on-screen presence was much less extensive. Regardless, Nielsen Media Research credits her with attracting a notable spike in viewership, particularly among women. They found an additional two million tuning in for the October 1 game.

This increase in viewership came alongside a touch of controversy. Swift humorously mentioned it in her TIME Person of the Year profile. She acknowledged potentially upsetting a few “Dads, brads, and chads.” Now, recent research has revealed the actual numbers!

NBC’s Sunday Night Football coordinating producer, Rob Hyland, highlighted the nuanced approach to broadcasting games attended by celebrities like Taylor Swift. He was overseeing the Jets-Chiefs on October 1 and Packers-Chiefs on December 3. Then Hyland remarked, “We prepare heavily for how they cover her,” yet conceded that “everything falls away if the game gets interesting.”

This perspective aligns with recent statistics shared by Taylor Swift Updates on their X account. The research shared challenges about the perceived extent of Swift’s screen presence. They posted the update and captioned, “📝| Statistics show that Taylor Swift has only been on screen for 0.46% of Chiefs playoff game coverage. – Totalling a whopping 1 minute and 41 seconds!”

This surprisingly low figure clearly contrasts with the attention and discussion her attendance had generated. As the Super Bowl is approaching, many have been wondering if Swift will attend it if the Chiefs qualify for it. The answer may be in the picture.
