We’re just days ahead of the Super Bowl LIV rematch! Last time, Patrick Mahomes and Co. had clinched victory over the 49ers. But this time, things are different. Both teams are not what they used to be back then. How so? The Chiefs, for one, aren’t having their offense do the heavy lifting. Their defense has been running the show.

And Mahomes knows this. He also understands that the 49ers will not let any chance slip by. In the sixth presser ahead of the Super Bowl, he revealed how the Chiefs could win the trophy.

Is there any trait of the 49ers that the team will watch out for? Mahomes himself outlined it in the press conference. “First off, take care of the football. Um, they’re they’re very opportunistic.” And the numbers don’t lie, especially when you look at how these two teams handle turnovers. San Francisco has been good at protecting the rock this season. They finished with a +10 turnover ratio. They’ve only coughed it up 18 times but managed to snatch it away 28 times.

On the flip side, we’ve got the Chiefs. They’ve had a rough go of it when it comes to turnovers. They finished with a -11 ratio, which puts them near the bottom of the league. KC has tossed 17 interceptions and lost 11 fumbles. Their defense, though, came up with 17 takeaways to soften the blow.

Here’s an interesting stat: Of the last six Super Bowls, only one had three or more turnovers. That was in Super Bowl LIV, when Mahomes and Garoppolo both felt generous with the ball, throwing two picks each. Can the Chiefs manage to win regardless?

Now, they say defense wins championships. And if we’re looking at that, the Chiefs have a leg up. Just look at how they’ve been playing in the playoffs. They completely shut down the Dolphins and the Ravens. Meanwhile, the 49ers- well, they’ve had a bit of a tougher time defensively.

Let’s switch gears to the offensive side of things. The 49ers are stacked, no doubt about it. With names like Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle leading the charge, they’ve got more than enough firepower. But what’s impressive is how their supporting cast steps up when needed. Guys like Jauan Jennings, Ray-Ray McCloud, and Kyle Juszczyk all had their moments in the spotlight. Plus, that offensive line anchored by Trent Williams is as solid as they come.

So, who has the higher chance of winning? Well, it’s anyone’s guess at this point. But most factors are leaning toward a 49ers victory. Can Mahomes and his squad win this uphill battle?
