The NFL Super Bowl players are meeting the largest podium crowd on the opening night. Ahead of Las Vegas’ big weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers faced the camera on Monday’s Super Bowl LVIII opening night. Among these players, Patrick Mahomes too appeared in front of the media and expressed his desire to build a Tom Brady-like legacy.

This time around, Mahomes is in the running for his third Super Bowl victory. Given his performances throughout his NFL career, and the fact that he led his team to the fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years, is a big thing! It’s fair to suggest that the 2xtime Super Bowl champ has often been compared to Tom Brady for all the right reasons.

On Monday, media outlets got the chance to ask Patrick Mahomes about his Tom Brady comparisons, and if he plans to follow in his footsteps. The 28-year-old athlete admitted that he intends to last as long as Brady. It’s not rocket science to understand this. The 46-year-old former quarterback takes very good care of what he puts in his body as far as nutrition. Mahomes, who believes in this mantra, humorously acknowledged the need to “get rid of the dad bod” for a sustained and healthy career.

The 2-time MVP feels that he is not even close to Brady’s career and it would take a lot of effort to get that. He shared that beyond just training within the team, maintaining personal health is crucial. He added that this involves taking care of the body both inside and outside the training facility. Mahomes emphasized the importance of keeping the body in good shape, dealing with any health issues, and doing whatever it takes to ensure the feet are healthy.

He highlighted, “I’m not even close to halfway [of Tom Brady’s career], so I haven’t put a lot of thought into it. Your goal is to be the best player you can be…..right now, it’s doing whatever I can to beat a great 49ers team and try to get that third ring. And then if you ask me that question in like 15 years, I’ll see if I can get close to seven. But seven seems like a long way away still.

Interestingly, a curious reporter also asked what Mahomes would prefer between a Super Bowl and six-pack abs. Mahomes had a hilarious response to this. “Another Super Bowl for sure. I have a six-pack abs. It’s just under the dad bond. So it’s just if you feel, I mean, there might be some skin there,” Patrick Mahomes joked. “But then underneath those six packs there, you got to get real close. So you got to swim a little bit and you think you’ll see it stop,” he concluded. Mahomes has a funny bone for sure.

Besides the six-pack abs and the hopes of emulating Tom Brady, Mahomes also talked about his upcoming rival, Brock Purdy, acknowledging that the young quarterback’s growth in the league is not new to him.

Patrick Mahomes knew Brock Purdy was going to be among the top QBs!

During the podium interview, Patrick Mahomes talked about his upcoming rival in the Super Bowl game, Brock Purdy. Mahomes revealed that he saw Purdy’s potential during their college days. He expressed that he used to watch Purdy play in college, especially in the Big 12, and recognized his talent. The 28-year-old quarterback admired the young quarterback’s winning mentality and playmaking mentalities throughout his college career.

According to Mahomes, when a player can make things happen in college and turn around a program like Purdy did at Iowa State, success in the NFL is almost expected. Despite Purdy being considered “Mr. Irrelevant” during the NFL draft, Mahomes wasn’t surprised by his success, emphasizing Purdy’s competitive spirit and determination.

While some may not have anticipated Purdy’s rise, Mahomes was one of the few who foresaw Purdy’s accomplishments in the NFL. It will be a feast to watch the two quarterbacks clash at Allegiant Stadium at 6:30 p.m. ET on 11th February. The 49ers are chasing their first Super Bowl title since 1995, while the Chiefs are aiming for a third championship in five years.
