After four years, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers are on the cusp of another Super Bowl. The venue has changed to Allegiant Stadium, but have the emotions behind the game changed? The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Niners 31-20 back in 2020, and 49ers CEO Jed York remembers it all. Will history repeat itself? Maybe it won’t, judging by the faith he puts in Kyle Shanahan to lead the team to a win.

Ahead of the most anticipated event in sports worldwide, the Niners CEO addressed various questions before the media. One of them was about the Niners’ loss to the Chiefs in 2020. By looking at it, Jed York seems calm and waits for the storm to happen.

Is the 49ers CEO Jed York holding grudges?

David Lombardi uploaded the Niners CEO’s interview just a few hours ago. The reporter didn’t waste any time and took York down memory lane. He asked the Niners CEO what he remembered from the 2020 Super Bowl. The reporter specifically reminded him about what happened in the 4th quarter. And by the 4th quarter, only one thing came to Jed York’s mind.

“I mean, I remember Nick Bosa getting held on a 3rd and long, and that not getting called,” he said. The franchise CEO then elaborated on the win against the Detroit Lions and said he felt terrible for the Detroit team coming this far and returning home with nothing. He had the same feeling when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

The Niners were in the lead till the 3rd quarter when the Chiefs decided to drop 21 points in the last quarter. Talk about a comeback! The Niners did the same to the Lions. When the Lions thought they would win the game, the San Fran team made an epic comeback. Perhaps Kyle Shanahan’s infamous playcalling came into play that day.

This may be why the Niners CEO has unwavering faith in their head coach.

Jed York believes in Kyle Shanahan’s ‘greatness’

Football is a very polarizing sport in that until you win games, you’re everyone’s hero. When you lose, though, the world turns on you. The reporter wanted to know whether York had any such perception of him. It’s safe to say that the CEO believes that Shanahan is one of the best people he’s worked with, and it won’t change anytime soon.

“I love Kyle. It would be hard for me to say that I enjoy working with anybody more than I enjoy working with Kyle. I think Kyle is a phenomenal coach. I think he’s done a phenomenal job with our club. I don’t really care what the outside perception is,” said Jed York of Shanahan.
