A lot has been happening behind the scenes that led to the buildup for the Super Bowl LVIII. The 2023 season has been a global festival – Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift romance (Front Office Sports reported Swift has generated a “brand value” of $331.5 million for the Chiefs and the NFL) and international games in Germany and London are two of the major reasons that garnered fans from around the world to tune into the hype.
Then came Sin City’s big weekend. It is barely a surprise that the Kansas City Chiefs vs 49ers Super Bowl clash shattered records. CBS Sports telecast became one of the most viewed telecasts in history. And that’s just CBS! Paramount+ led this by marking a record-setting audience.

The data highlights the fact that SB LVIII had a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 123.4 million average viewers across all platforms. That’s not all, CBS had the largest audience (120M) in the history of broadcasting channels. Also, Paramount+ recorded mammoth fans tuning in to watch the game in a live stream (all-time Super Bowl numbers).
To add to this, over 202.4 million fans watched the whole game, or some part of it across all networks, which is a 10% increase in unduplicated viewers since last year’s Super Bowl. Last year’s Super Bowl had about 114.2M TV viewers (FOX) and 7M streamers. As for CBS, the TV viewership number was 95.21 M with 5.7M streamers respectively.
However, the USA is not the only country where people are crazed about the Super Bowl, and football is not the only reason why people are tuning in.
Here’s all about Super Bowl LVIII viewership records outside the USA
Well, let’s talk about Canada for a moment. Just like the US, Canada became one of the countries with the greatest number of Super Bowl viewers this year. This game was the most watched English broadcast in Canada. Only if the telecast was in French, there would have been even more viewers. Interestingly, Univision averaged more than 2.2 million viewers, making it the highest Super Bowl viewership on record for a Spanish-language network.
A report from Bell Media suggests that more than 50% of the Canadian population watched the game fully or partially. The onset of 19M unique viewers was a 16% growth from last year’s SB. The viewership inflation was recorded based on the age group of the people. People between the ages of 18-34 saw a 19% increase, while those in the age group of 18-49 added 18% to those numbers. To add to this, people aged between 25-54 constituted 10% of the viewership. Also, it was Usher’s halftime performance that garnered 12.6M viewers at halftime, just from Canada!

Last year, the NFL’s report suggested that the Eagles-Chiefs game had 56 million viewers outside the US, surpassing the 2022 edition by under 7 percent. Interestingly, Mexico had the “largest number of fans outside the US” with more than 20 million viewers, which surpassed by 2022 game by 10 percent.
The Kansas City Chiefs crushed the San Francisco 49ers’ hope for a first Super Bowl win since 1994 with a 25-22 overtime victory at Allegiant Stadium. Super Bowl LVIII became the 7th longest game in the history of the NFL.
