Is Lamar Jackson overrated, or is John Harbaugh failing to utilize his talents effectively?

Dark clouds are seemingly taking over in Baltimore after the Ravens’ 0-2 start to the season. Well, it was a familiar feeling of disappointment for the Ravens Nation at M&T Bank Stadium, who witnessed their team falling short of a Super Bowl appearance last season. However, this loss to the Raiders will cause more damage if the Ravens don’t find a way to their next few games.

It would be a bigger embarrassment if the Ravens make it 0-3, as pointed out by former Super Bowl Champion James Jones on the Facility. “Man, I don’t want this for Lamar because I think a 0-3 start the conversation that we all don’t want to hear. It’s gonna be all the questions about Lamar Jackson that we don’t wanna hear,” Jones expressed. Well, Jones might be right, as Jackson would be the first one to be put under the guillotine if the Ravens don’t win in Dallas.

While expressing his thoughts about the possible scenario surrounding the Ravens’ loss next weekend. He did point out a few questions that might come across Jackson’s purview: “Can he win with this style of QB play? Is he a passer? Can Lamar be a pocket passer and pass from the pocket? If they go 0-3, there gonna be so many questions.” Although the Ravens QB could see himself under fire, he was 21-of-34 for 247 yards with one TD last Sunday.

Even the reigning NFL MVP expressed his disappointment after starting the season 0-2, “I’m not used to being 0-2. We’ve just got to catch our momentum and get it started right away.” Seeing Jackson explain his thoughts about losing the first two games of the season, he indeed isn’t familiar with one. As the last time the Ravens QB found himself on the losing side in consecutive games was back in 2021.

However, the 27-year-old did speak about the thing that can turn around their season, “We’ve got to find our mojo. We’ve got to find it and do what we do because that’s not us at all.” This is the first time in nine years that the Ravens are staring at the barrel after recording a 0-2 start to their regular season. Well, Jackson isn’t the only one who is surprised by the lack of points in Baltimore, as other players express their disappointment.

Baltimore Ravens’ thoughts after losing consecutive games in 2024

Is Lamar Jackson overrated, or is John Harbaugh failing to utilize his talents effectively?

Have an interesting take?

The Ravens nation is unsurprisingly dejected after getting stunned on consecutive weekends. But no one in Baltimore has yet to give up on their season, going into the third week against the Cowboys. As Harbaugh stated, “I’ve heard it said that the NFL season is a race to improve, to become the best team that you can over the course of the long haul. The race is a marathon, and we have to try to continue as much as we can every single day. We need to keep pounding the rock, and the rock is going to crack.”

Although we don’t know for a fact whether the rock Harbaugh talked about will break, the Ravens’ offense did show gaps against the Raiders. Former Offensive Player of the Year RB Derrick Henry averaged just 2.61 rushing yards while finishing with just one touchdown to his name. Elsewhere, their QB Lamar Jackson got sacked two times while throwing an interception on the night.

Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley expressed his thoughts about the self-inflicted defeat, “I felt like there were many, many opportunities for us to put the nail in the coffin, and we just didn’t end up doing that.” Last season, the Ravens were a different beast, as they allowed the fewest points per game on defense at 16.5.

However, fast forward two games into this season. They are in a completely different spot. As conveyed by LB Roquan Smith, “There’s no way we should be 0-2. But it is what it is.” Well, only time will tell whether the Ravens can turn around their season in Dallas. Or will the Cowboys put the another nail to the coffin of the Ravens’ hopes this season? As fans, we can only hope the best team emerges out of Dallas this weekend.
